There was a previous thread on this topic but it doesn't fully address my issue, which is as follows:

I am trying to hook my Beogram 8000 up to a Beomaster 2400.   However, the moment I plug in the DIN  into the Phono input, the function shifts immediately to Phono (and the turntable works fine),   However, I can't change functions back to radio, and cannot turn it off except by using  the on/off slide switch under the lid.  I tried it with another BM2400 and had the exact same condition (+ a nice humm), so I don't think it's a fault with the receiver.

The other thread suggested removing the 2 datalink pins, but I can't do  this because I primarily use this Beogram with my BM8000 and  need the datalink function intact.

Is there any way to solve this issue without compromising my 8000, or do I have to use a 4002/4 (or radial TT) since it was period correct for the BM2400?  Or... only listen  to albums (not necessarily bad),  and then the radio by removing the Phono input which would be  a pain?

All thoughts  welcome.  Thanks in advance,

Larry

Hi Larry,

the Beogram 8000 is not right to work with the 2400. That Master was one of the first remote controlled receiver (ultrasonic). It's not, what is called "datalink" later. You will need a Beogram 2400(-2) or a early 6000 (I think). Or you must use a adapter, which has 7 pins/holes but only the audio connected (pins 2,3,5).

Hi Chris,

Thank you, that's a big help!    That explains why I haven't been able to get either my 4004 or the 8000 Beogram to work properly through the 2400.    (I didn't think I'd have two 2400's with the identical issue)!

I knew it's kind of an odd combo to try to mate these two in the first place..... It was a temporary setup until my Beomaster 8000 is back from the shop.

Best Regards,

Larry

Chris,

You wouldn't happen to know where I might find an adapter, which has 7 pins/holes but only the audio connected (pins 2,3,5), would you?   Or would it have to be made up as a custom?

It would be pretty sweet to be able to keep a 4004 hooked up to this system.

Thanks,

Larry

Try Steve at Sounds Heavenly.  He's a genius and will make whatever you need.

Larry,

no, if so, I could solder it by myself. But a quick look at ebay's: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Adapter-fur-Bang-Olufsen-7-polig-AUF-5-polig-DIN-/351342913526?pt=DE_TV_Video_Audio_Sonstige&hash=item51cdab67f6.

I'm sure you find a similar one at your region.

If the OP is using an original B&O cable, the two outer pins in the DIN plug can be screwed out using a small watchmakers screwdriver.
Some cables have this type of plug at both ends of the cable, others only at one end.

Martin,

it is an original cable.  I unscrewed the two contacts and it's working perfectly!

Problem  solved!!

Thanks to Chris & Dave as well for the wonderful suggestions!

Best Regards,

larry
