So, rumors abound about Apple releasing a revised version of AppleTV with Siri and an App Store later this year. With this there just might be a new remote with more commands than the basic Apple Remote.
In light of this possibility I had a question about B&O's PUC library. How quickly after a new product (with the potential to be used in a great many households) is released does B&O usually add it to the PUC library for download?
One nice thing about the Apple TV has been that you can program it to work with other IR codes if necessary. This came in useful for my BeoVision 8 that I use at my office. Instead of having a costly service call, I was able to use one of the pre-existing devices in the PUC to control the Apple TV. Not an answer to your question, but I thought it's useful info to keep in mind regarding the Apple TV.
Something else remarkable about the Apple TV is that it is going to be the "hub" for the Apple home automation. I'm really interested to see how this might integrate with the MLGW/BLGW. The new Apple TV is expected to have Siri support. This could logically lead to Siri integration with our B&O by way of the Apple TV integrating with MLGW/BLGW.

I'm using an app called "Workflow" to automate a couple of repeated tasks on iOS (1. uploading photos to the cloud and simultaneously adding it to my iPhoto Albums / Flickr, depending on the tags, and 2. compiling, creating and sending an automated text message to Fuelly - a gas / mileage tracker).
I bring this up because hopefully similar scripting apps will be available for AppleTV and as Jeff points out, using Siri along with these Apps and the gateway, opens up some exciting possibilities. But I don't know much about BL/ML Gateway, there's likely already scripting and programming built into that. I have so much to learn.

The MLGW and BLGW have a limited number of "built-in" drivers for the most popular integration protocols -- such as Lutron, KNX, Philips Hue, etc., that make macro programming really simple. However, custom command strings can also be written to integrate with other products and systems. I'm sure that Apple Home Kit will eventually have its own driver for at least the BLGW. I'm currently using the Lutron RadioRa 2 driver and the integration is really simple -- with the ability to create macros that work in both directions -- with B&O commands triggering Lutron events as well as having Lutron button presses triggering B&O events.

Just tried this with the vtape button on my Beo4. Sadly, doesn't appear to work, I guess due to frequency range of the remote . Anyone else had any success with Beo4 using this method?

Graeme, you're correct, I think direct IR control from the Beo4 isn't possible. I do think as Jeff said it is meant for "regular" IR frequencies (via IR emitters).
I had a PUC update for Foxtel earlier in the week. It never tells you what the update has improved or removed.
Then the new Foxtel IQ3 box has just been released as of Monday.
I did notice that I can now use the Play Button and the Pause button independently because the real foxtel remote has a combo play pause button which is a nice improvement.
The other thing that I would like that I thought would be in an update is the ability to record rather than pressing Menu 8. The record button on the app also doesn't work for foxtel.
