Hello all

Does the BLGW also act like a convertor for ML to NL

I am thinking of reopening my beosound4 with a moment and wondered if I will need a convertor too. A dealer said the BLGW is also a convertor which would be great.

I was thinking of adding an active to my speaker room to retain the IR control and keep the display on my penta's

Does anyone know how the moment will work with the BLGW.

How does it work when connected to a TV if no option settings are selected?

Nope

You'll need both boxes.

Hey!

are you sure? I was in an official Bang&Olufsen store and they told me the that the BLGW has both of the connections - ML and NL - and there's no converter needed anymore?

Yes it has both, but it does not act as a convertor.

Thanks for this info. What does that exactly mean? Let's say I have just an Avant 55 (NL) and a Beolab 3500 (ML). Can I connect both devices directly to the BLGW or do I need a converter between the BLGW and the BL 3500? Both devices are in two different rooms. My goal is to be able to set an alarm clock for radio in both of the rooms. The BLGW should able to do that for the Avant (which has no built-in alarm timer) and the BL 3500.

Sorry, I'm a beginner, and I don't get it :).

Funny enough a dealer told me the same thing until I showed him a setup guide which showed you in fact needed both devices.

He was also shocked by this as he believes the BLGW could do both

Maybe in the future as I understand it's the same hardware just running different software.

I told my dealer even about the BLGW manual which shows a sample setup with ML/NL. But he answered that the sample setup had more than one ML device, that's why the converter is needed. If you have just one it should work. Did anybody already try to connect a ML device to the BLGW without a converter? Otherwise I'll annoy a dealer until he tries.

The BLGW will control both ML and NL products and you can create macros that's triggered from ML and executes commands on NL + the other way around, but the BLGW is for control only and it will not work as a NL/ML converter for bridging Sound and standard source control

Also in your example the BL3500 will not work without a current master on the ML side, so you will need to add either a ML audio/video master or an old BeoLink converter (AUX link) or just a ML current master power supply for the ML side to function
