Hi,

I am looking to upgrade my aging Bv4-50 = BS1 and exploring my options. Is there anybody in NYC that is using BL5s in a surround setup with recent non B&O TV + receiver?   I have some questions about triggering, number of remotes needed, etc.

Thank you

Find yourself a used Beosytem 3 on eBay for $1500 - 2000. Full 1080p HD plus hdmi plus all speaker connections for B&O. You can use your BV 4 if it has a DVI card. Even on 720p you'll be amazed cow much better the picture is.

Hi Turbotol, Yes I'm in NY Area. And I've dealt with the same problems. Non B&O TV and Receiver with BeoLab 1 and 9. The Best way to get your sound better is to Buy BeoSystem 3 or 4. They're not 4k but with the amount you going to spend to get the other cables is not wealth it, because, no matter what you do without the System 3 or 4, you're not going to get the sound you suppose to get with such a fantastic speakers. If you can go all that way you must as well get the B&O System. I've tried almost all the 4K Receivers but nothing comes close. Good Luck!!

Hi

Why not use Atlona 4K-UHD HDMI Switcher with Mirrored HDMI With Beosystem4 use one hdmi out as video out to display and 2nd hdmi out to Beosystem4 for audio this way you get 4k@60hz on display and perfect audio for beolab speakers.

Hi Ari, name it, i've tried it. Onkyo, Denon, Marantz and Pioneer Elite. Marantz was just a little better but you still have spend more buying cables. And nothing sound better other than power links plug-in. I'm surprised B&O haven't come out 4K Receiver, instead of spending money on some of the B&O Player stuff which are unnecessary to grow the business, they could have come out of the B&O stuff customers need. Eg, with all the Good Speakers they have, why would they waist money in B@O Player S8.

That sounds like quite a good option actually! Wonder how well it would work :)

Can't agree more! I was going a bit crazy as no one seemed to believe me or could tell the difference between the sound quality.

Anyways, I just caved in and got the Avant.. So everything should sound great now!

The 4K HDMI switcher solution above sounds pretty good though as an alternative. Just need someone to try it now though :)

Yeah! I'll try that also. But I thought old TV had a built in Receiver? I saw your picture, was that receiver with the light around an Onkyo? I still have that never used. Good Luck on the Avant. I wish they'll come out with 65".
