Now that the Beolit 15 has come out and replaced the Beolit 12 wouldn´t this be the best (and last) opportunity for B&O to update its firmware?

The Beolit 12 is a fantastic speaker, but as we know there have been a lot of problems with flakey wifi connections, battery issues etc. so for ll of us that have lived with these and still like the product it would be nice with a final firmware, comon B&O!

On the software to do list (please add to this if you have any requests):

  1. no more wifi drop outs when in sleep mode
  2. better multi system functions and be able to play left channel and right channel out to two Beolit 12
  3. software equalizer
  4. optimise battery

@ steinzeug

In three years of production, the Beolit 12 had once time an update software.

Beolit 12 is discontinued. I fear no improvements.

It is a pity because Beolit 12 sounds great: my favourite portable speaker ! Yes - thumbs up

It would be great if they appreciated their Beolit 12 customers.

Lets make a noise!

Exactly. Especially since we paid double the cost of the Beollit 15 and that seems to be way more feature rich.

Also does anyone actually know what the current software level is?

My battery is pathetic and we were told to update the software.

That did nothing.

LETS MAKE SOME NOISE.

Maybe other social media stream may help..

I am sure no one will want to look at other products if they see the situation we are in.

Thanks in advance

I loved my Beolit 12 with great sound and touch buttons and IR receiver. Wifi worked so-so.

The hardware wifi part was only 802.11g which can slow down your network and is not really quick enough for lossless music, especially not when distance is introduced and speeds goes down quick.

I mainly used mine with Ethernet but it worked quite good on wifi at home too (I had extra wifi access points).

A problem for B&O is that the company who made the wifi and control chip went into bankruptcy not long after the unit was launched. I think this is the reason no changes was made to the Beolit 12 except for some smaller changes via software.

I think because of that, the wifi issue is impossible to solve. Perhaps you could add a Bluetooth receiver to your Beolit 12?

The unit is as others here have said discontinued and replaced already. I would either try to live with it or sell it and buy something newer.

Also I want to add that when the BeoLit 12 came out it was a beast and not many other speakers was available. It was a new field. Today it has changed a lot. Speakers use Bluetooth that developed over the years (higher bandwidth and quality) as have our phones.

Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2,
BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century,
BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i,
BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40,
BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)

The A3 is still a great piece, one of most underrated products. There was a MediaMarkt discount in Germany 1,5 yr ago - i should have bought more than one unit.

Do you remember that it was introduced to us at the Struer visit. I still love and use mine.

Ours is not often used but I do still like the concept.

I was more trying so I could get upset about its short life -- but what would be the point of doing that ?

We should be realistic that 1,000 is not what it used to be (unfortunately).
