beogram cd 5500 won't play

When I load the cd the draw goes in the track sign comes on then nothing no play and no sound click or motor noise. Does it have a belt or is it direct drive?

Have a search on the forum for Beogram CD 5500 issues. This is a pretty common problem and it is possibly just a cap change.

With top off the does not spin when play pressed.

'cap' is short for capacitors.  Member 'Dillen' sells capacitor kits with comprehensive instructions which help bring these old units back to life.

Just checked with top off the cd does not spin.
