I have noticed on the Beoworld Product section (as well as on Beophile) there is mention of a Beogram 1201. What is this? I have not heard or seen pictures of it before, does it even exist?

I never saw one either.
The -01 models were typically pre-production models (Beomaster 4401 was the prototype model for Beomaster 4400 etc.)
but I don't recall ever seeing a prototype Beogram 1200. One or maybe a few may exist, presumably also confirmed by the fact, that
the following updates were Beogram 1202 and 1203, but I doubt that we will ever see a 1201.
It was certainly not a commonly available model.

Whilst I agree with this is principle, the 4401 is possibly an exception as it appears in a service manual with a list of different parts to the 4400 (Obviously the black metal parts). I don't know of another product - BM6001 etc that features in this way. I am still of the opinion that the 4401 was going to be a separate model but was cancelled before reaching production for cost reasons.

Interesting. Sadly it will probably be one of those things that we may never truly know about. There does seem to be a few of these prototypes around and it would be nice to get some idea of how many there are. The 4401 does appear slightly different as you said Peter.

The 1201 is a weird one as surely it must have existed in some form or another, why would they call it a 1202/1203 later if it never was considered. It obviously didn't get very far though as none of us had heard about it or seen it or even know if it does exist!

What would be most interesting is to hear from people within Struer during the 70s/80s!
