Link has timed out. What is the St Paul's registered name at Companies House? (The Bath store was only registered for a short period before being dissolved.... but the Cardiff owner has quite an ownership trail......)

Woah. So B&O St Paul's went bust owing £1 million pounds to creditors, investors and customers? That is simply incredible.

Yes, the previous Bath store went bust owing B&O UK £2xx,000 and looks like St Paul's, too. B&O must have insurance for this. Between two stores, they've lost £500,000?

And, yes, my earlier post went in to moderation about the St Paul's store.

Hmm, not pretty reading.

The full accounts for 2013 and 2014 show it (obviously) losing money, almost 200k in the first year, about 60k in the second.

They were in the new development / building where my office was, and no doubt the rent was on the high side. The other tenants were well known high street brands, high turnover eateries and the like.

On the occasions i went in there, they weren't the most welcoming, customer focused and i found them a bit aloof. They were offering a discount to those worked for the financial firms located in the building, not that that helped much.

10 years ago, there were 2 B&O stores within 1 mile of my place - one on Hampstead High Street, one by Swiss Cottage / St.Johns Wood. Both very well heeled areas - both long gone.

Food for thought eh.

At least Dansk Audio made a profit on their two stores - but the difference in profit between 2016 and 2017 is massive. £103K in 2016, but down to only £2K in 2017 - I can see why they closed the Bath store now. Incredible.

Looked at my dealers accounts (felt a little bit like prying, but whatever).....was much more steady, and basically unchanged 2016 to 2017.

Level of profit nothing special though, was my bigger takeaway.

I do not think you are prying, if I was giving a big deposit to a shop I would certainly want to know if they were financially sound before parting with the cash.

A customer looking on B&O's store finder would think in lot of  cases (not in Dansk Audio Ltd case, they clearly state this on their Cardiff store micro-sitethat they are operating from a separate company) that all stores there were owned by the parent company. This to my mind is misleading and I think if they are operated by 3rd party companies that company's trading name should be published on the site.

Indeed I thought this was a legal requirement?

I'm amazed a limited company can setup promoting themselves as a brand (ie. B&O), but B&O has no responsibility for a loss of sale or monies for the end user.

I got caught out with the previous Bath store. Life was really good then and riding a financial high and I completely forgot I put a small deposit down on a TV (no, really, I forgot). I only realised weeks later when I received an official notification from the liquidator. Guess what? Never received that deposit back either from the liquidator or card company as I put it on my debit card, left it too long to claim, then the card company stated it had been "delivered" as it was a deposit so I just lost the will to pursue it and left it with the liquidator. Luckily it was a small amount, but it just shows how easy it is to be caught out and B&O completely separate themselves from the situation.
