Hi, I have recently purchased a Beogram 1202 in what appears to be good order. It has the usual B & O 5 pin din output, though I am hooking it up to a modern Yamaha amp. I purchased a female adaptor with 2 rca's and an earth output also. The problem I'm having is when its all hooked up and the earth is screwed into the ground point on the amp there is a fairly weak signal on one channel, one seems ok, and a really annoying hum. I disconnected the earth and it still hums badly.
Any help here would be most appreciated!
Thanks Lee, will do. Do you know if the 1202 needs a pre amp before connecting to an amp? There are conflicting views on this I'm wondering if this might be part of the problem too?
The 1202 has no build in preamp, so if there is no preamp in your amplifier you will need a preamp

Hi, it's a Yamaha RX-V667, I dont think it has a preamp so will contact Sounds Heavenly
I have the same issue, although I connect the 1202 to a Beomaster 2000.
Despite this do this require also a preamp ?

Like most modern, post vinyl era receivers the Yamaha RX-V667 only has line level audio inputs. Turntables require an input with an RIAA amplifier that brings the signals from the phono cartridge up to what an audio line level has. You can find stand-alone phono amps that do that so you can plug a turntable into a standard line level audio input.The hum is likely a grounding issue though. The phono cable has the low side of the stereo channels as well as a shield wire. Connecting a B&O turntable to a non-B&O amplifier will usually require connecting the shield ground wire to that of the amplifier. The vintage B&O turntables included that extra ground wire in their DIN to RCA adapters. A B&O receiver with a phono DIN input takes care of that.
You will have to take care of that with a standalone phono preamp device and the B&O turntable as well.

I have a similar issue in that my Beogram RX2 has a feedback issue. I have a new MMC 3 cartridge, and pass through a Vincent PHO 8 preamp to KEF LS50's. This also occurs when patched into Sonos house system as external input. IS this a grounding issue? Or possibly something else? The lead from the RX2 seems to be indecent shape.
