My Beocenter 7002 selects the correct record speed (33) then about 2 or 3 minutes later changes to 45 pressing 33 corrects the problem but it will self change maybe 3 or 4 times before settling down and can play the same record a few times without a problem, Any idears what is causing this?
I thought it may be the 45 button making intermitent contact, so I put a few coins on button to wheigh it down to try and introduce the fault but it made no difference.
John.
Has anyone any idear what may be causing the fault?
The mechanism weighs the record in order to decide on 45/33,single or album. It used to get fooled by 12inch singles, and play them at 33,so you had to change speed.Your unit seems to have the opposite effect? The centre boss of the turntable does the weighing, try pressing it down against it's spring a few times before placing the disc,it seems something is'nt quite connecting beneath?

The sensing mech is adjustable,or the reed switch that it triggers may be intermittant.
Hi Nick, pressing center down a few times seems to have cured the problem. I was aware of the wheighing system but did not know it used a reed swich.
Thank you for your help, John.
I just finnished writing this and it changed from 33 to 45, DRAT! I have played 4 lps and this is the first hickup. I think the reed swich will need investigating.
The set has been working well since my last post I hope I am not inviting trouble talking about it. I "cleaned" the reed relay by moving a strong magnet near it making it click a few times. I had missed this reed relay, it is not the record weighing relay but the one on PCB17 it is not shown on circuit, but from memory I think it should be between R19 to R21 this is shown as a link on my B&O info. I am very pleased with the 7002 I just need a SC70 cabinet in Rosewood, the one I have is in excellent condition but in Teak.
