hi

Greatful for some advice as i am quite confused with the digital streaming stuff!

at the moment i stream music via my iphone or ipad to an airport express connected to cambridge dac and then into jy beomaster.

if i buy a dock with digital connection and connect that to the dac will the sound quality be better or, is there a dependency on the library. At the moment i stream from itunes by, will deezer sound better if i susbscribe to it or is that a red herring because my apple stuff cannot stream to that resolution, or could it with a dock but not wirelessly?

have to admit deezer is realy good, subscribed after reacing about a month with the moment thread!

Hi Andrew,

you are already doing well!

Using a dock would mean, that your device would have to be 'docked', when you use it - which is not very convenient, if you already are used to AirPlay to the AirPort Express.

I suppose, that you are streaming compressed (AAC or MP3) files from iTunes now - these files are from a standart definition source (redbook standart/CD standart/16/44.1 standart).

What you buy from iTunes nowadays are 256kpbs files.

Using Deezer Premium gives you the same SD quality with a bitrate of 320kbps.

Unless you are using uncompressed/lossless files (ALAC) from iTunes (e.g. If you ripped your CD's yourself), you won't have any difference.
Deezer will soon start streaming in a lossless (non-compressed) quality - if you would prefer that!

The AirPlay streaming protocol (with the AE) allows for streams in a 16/44.1-losless quality, which is perfectly sufficient for streaming Deezer.

Docking your device (in a combination with a DAC) won't give you more.

Go for the streaming from your Deezer account and stick with your Apple Express/DAC/BeoMaster combo for now.

What B&O has done with the BeoSound Moment is basicly to organize these pieces of software/hardware into one device using a simpler, more intuitive user interface - which (imo) is the way to go for the future.

Have fun listening to your music Smile

hi MM

Thanks, that was exactly what I wanted to know and sets my mind at rest - going to subscribe to the month free premium trial of Deezer today!

Thanks again, really helpful

Andrew
