Hi guys I`d like to replace my older BL8000 fabric frets and thought if it is possible to substitute them for the new BL18 frets.

I try to find any pictures of the new BL18 without the the frets on it, but was not successful. But I think there is a locking device or something.

Any idea???

Thank you.

Wilderwein,

thank you very much. From what I can see, there is no way to fix it. So I have to buy the older BL8000 frets again.

It is not possible!

On the other hand - for a real DIY'er everything is possible 😎

But I guess, it will be a hell of a work - and it might even not look 'real'.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

If I would buy BL 18 I would ask the question the other way round: Can I use the frets of BL 8000 on BL 18? I don't like these 'grills' at all, and my wife also, she doesn't permit a replacement of our BL 8000 by BL 18.

I strongly suspect that swapping the frets, in either direction, from BL18 to 8000 or the reverse, would mess up the voicing of the speakers. Pretty much all grill cloth/frets have some impact on the sound of the speaker, and if you intend the grills to be left on a designer will take that into account and voice the speaker in a way to try an eliminate any adverse effects on the overall sound from the frets. Especially true on a setup with the frets made of vertical columns of slats like the BL18.

I have a friend who wrote a short paper on how he (at the time involved in TV sound for RCA/ProScan) would specify driver response curves that would balance out the anomalies the TV speaker mounting and grills induced so the overall freq response would be more accurate.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad
