Hi all you clever people.

I am trying to connect my BV7 40 MKII to a BC9500 via a BL611 converter but there is no sound.

Having followed the user guide, I can control the BC9500 via my BEO4 and the BV7 recognises the connection as it displays the source and I can hear the speakers click on. For example, when I press CD on the BEO4, the CD starts playing and the BV7 displays CD.  However, I get no sound at all, the BC9500 starts up and the ‘mute’ sign is lit by default, I then unmute. Changing the volume up and down does not make a change to either the volume level on the BV7 or BC9500.

I have tested that sound does come out of the BC9500 by connecting the Beolab 7.1 directly, so I know it is not the BC9500 itself and I get sound out of the TV when on DTV.

The connections are as follows….

Masterlink cable from BL1611 to BV7

Datalink (7 pin) from BC9500 to BL1611

Powelink from BC9500 powerlink input 1 to BL1611

The TV has the speakers so I set  v.opt to 0 and a.opt to 2.

I made sure the BV7 and BC9500 were disconnected when I attached the cables and connected the BL1611 once the BV7 and BC9500 were in standby.

Any clues?

Thanks

Dan

Hi,

this is just the error. x.opt=0 means not only that the device doesn't react to IR signals but also that the speakers are not connected.

So in your case you should set the TV to v.opt=2 and the BeoCenter to a.opt=0 if your speakers are connected to the Beovision.

Thank you for the quick reply, I doubled checked and changed x.opt over.  I can now control the volume but still no sound!

I'm wondering, should the BL1611 be unplugged when I make changes and if the type of powerlink cable could be making a diference?

Pull all power plugs and reconnect after a little while. Set options again. Should do it.

Thank you for the suggestion, but no joy, still no sound. Could the converter be faulty or using the wrong cables or something like that?

It is important to power up the BeoLink convertor last after all connections have been made. This enable the system to configure itself.

Are you using a fully wired power link cable?

Thanks for the suggestion, have tried reconnecting everything and then switching on the converter last, but still no joy.  I have tried two powerlink cables,

The TV displays CD and reacts as you would expect, the BC9500 still starts in mute by default.

I'm not sure how to tell if the cables are fully wired, is there a way to tell?

Thanks

Hi Dan,

I was looking through the forum and I noticed your post which is exactly the same problem I'm getting with no sound from my Beo9500.

Did you find a solution to the problem??

I did have it all working but then to everything to bits for decorating and now I can't remember how I set it up before....any help welcomed

Thanks

Hi,

I am afraid not, in the end (from what I can remember) I connected the BV7 to the BEO9500 but never got it to work as intended, and ended up connecting some speakers directly to the BEO9500.  The sound for the BEO9500 comes out of the speakers connected directly and the front speakers connected to the TV! Lost the enthusiasm to spend any more time on it. Sorry not very helpful.
