I have inherited a Beolab 5000 amplifier from my father, together with a Beogram CDX cd player, together with a Beogram 900 radiogram which I intend to restore.
I would like to set up the amp and cd player in my office temporarily with a pair of H6 headphones which I already have, is it possible to plug the headphones into the amp some way?
Welcome to Beoworld.
If by the Beolab 5000 (and not a Beomaster 5000), such as this:

The answer is yes, but not directly. You need a seperate box and they are either very rare - and expensive, or have been remanufactured by Classic Audio - and are also quite expensive. There is no headphone socket on the Beolab 5000.
This was a thread about the stereo width box:

If you mean the Beomaster 5000, then you open the front panel (where it says 'open' by giving it a push) and the headphone output is behind that.
I hope you do mean the Beolab 5000 as it's a wonderful amp and well worth keeping and restoring - it will need to be restored to get the best from it. The CDX is also very good - as are the H6's. A nice start to B&O ownership.
Dave.
Thanks for response Dave,
It is a Beolab 5000 amp (a beutifull thing covered in solid Teak wood) bought new in the 60's
Not my first foray into B&O, I've just suddenly got a retro urge now that my mother is selling her house.
Determined to put it to use, a functioning piece of art.

Thats the right stuff! Please, get it in use, you will not regret it.
And please, let us know all about it!
Welcome!

That's the attitude!
The RG900 is a nice piece too. What is in it? Is it a complete system with tuner, tape and record deck? It sounds surprisingly good for its age.
If you have any problems with the BL5000 and it needs working on, contact Frede at Classic Audio. Best investment in B&O I've ever made.

Frede is also compiling a list of all known BL and BM5000's so would like the serial number for his list.

And, if you don't post any pictures of these things, you obviously don't have them as far as we are concerned! We love to see pictures of people's stuff.
The RG 900 is the first B&O that dad bought. It came with tuner and turntableand was Teak not Rosewood.
He replaced the turntable after a while with a Goldring 75 ( a decision I'll never understand, ugly thing compared to B&O )
Later on he bought the 5000 amp and installed it where the LP rack was on the left hand side. He had a pair of B&O speakers for a while but changed
them fo a pair of AR speakers, also had a couple of B&O reel to reels over the years, but changed to a Sony Cassette deck ( shiny metal and lots of small buttons)
Gas strutts on the radiogram are still fine after all this time and the wood just needs a good clean and sanding, then re oiling.
The tuner powers up but is stuck in one position, I think a cable has snapped. It sounds fine, as long as you like listening to the local radio station in Liverpool?
Unfortunately I don't have room for the radiogram at the moment so it's going into storage, I will take pictures before it gets wrapped up. Also pics of the CDX and BL5000.
I'll also send Frede at Classic Audio the details of the BL 500o's serial number etc
So Far everything has powered up and appears working, I just have no speakers to connect to.
My current system is a Beovision 7 with dvd / cd built in, so one remote and a minimum of cables.
Welcome to the mighty Beolab 5000 owners' club!
A truly wonderful amp.

Evidence!
BL 5000 in storage at the moment,
But I've also found a B&O VHS player
The CDX looks mint but where is the Beolab?
My wife put it in one of the storage box's for safety, now locked in secure storage 200 miles away
Theres only twenty of them for me to go through, watch this space, I'm not hallucinating.

Does that mean you have 20 storage boxes with B&O in them? If so; I watch with great interest.
Unfortunately not,
Although I also found my old 21" MX tv in my storage unit in London ( forgot about that, dont know why I kept it after buying BV7
it just looks to nice to throw away)
Beolab 500 retreived, bit mucky but will clean up.
Steve at Heavenly Sounds has come up with cable (£49 bargain) to feed headphones from "Speakers 2".
Only problem now is that the left hinge on CDX lid has snapped, just as i had connected everything up. ( need to find a way around and repair?)
Pics attached, also of Beo 900 which is waiting love and attention.
apologies for arrangement of pictures, hope it's not too confusing
