I would like to try using this cartridge with a standard tonearm, and understand that I will require an adapter. Are such devices readily available? And will an adaptor for the MMC 1-5 range work with the MMC 20 CL cartridge?

No the MMC1-5 range adapter will not work.
There must be hundreds of thousands of adapters for MMC20 range cartridges kicking about, un-used, in cupboards and drawers, all over the world.
Two types were available. Either a complete headshell, which accepted the MMC20, to plug into the conventional arm, or an adapter to bolt the MMC20 cartridge into the existing headshell.
A wanted advert on this site may well be successful!

One thing you may need to be careful of is that the MMC20CL is a fairly high compliance cartridge and some modern 'standard' tonearms may not be designed with such cartridges in mind.

I have no connection with the sale, but noticed that there is currently a headshell type MMC20x adaptor on UK eBay for £30.

I've dealt with that seller before and had a reasonably good experience. Unfortunately, I need the other type of adapter...just my luck!
I have these available - Grey for the MMC20 series, Clear for the MMC1-5.
