Hello all,

please accept our sincere apologies for the forum not looking quite right at the moment.

We sustained a very heavy spam attack early this morning, originating from North Korea apparently, and it has meant we've had to do a few "lock downs" on most of the forum software until Keith can have a proper look at it later this afternoon.

Quite why people do this kind of thing is beyond me. What on earth does it achieve?!

Anyway, normal service will be resumed later today - and we will put in place some quite heavy anti-spam rules until this all settles down.

For now, please bear with us.

Thank You

The Moderating Team

UPDATE

I can confirm that we are now back to a normal state, except that I have added further restrictions which in some cases may mean that new threads and some posts will require moderation.

Certain areas of the world mostly in parts of Asia will no longer be able to connect to our servers as they are now blocked by our firewall and so will not even be able to register as a user.

Whilst the actions taken today are certainly not fool proof, we will continue to monitor the situation.

Regards

Keith..

Looks like as well as driving a car at 3 years old, climbing Mount Everest, flying planes etc, the exalted leader of North Korea is having a go at a bit of hacking too.  No end to his talents!

No need to apologise.  Thanks for getting things up and running again.

Dave.

Do you know if this is a general, broad band attack against a number of sites and hosting services, or is it more focused on a particular site or hosting service?
