Hi, I just picked up an 8000 set including a -  Beogram, Beomaster, Beocord, all in visually great condition. The turntable shows intermittent illumination of the guide arm lamp, the display panel flashes with "c.c.c.c.c" once in a while and the tone arm motor spins a few times while making a vibrating sound; the platter does not spin at all and there seems to be no response with any of the control buttons. I have noticed that "Dillen" seems to be the go to man for replacement  electronics/capacitors and I have PM'd him.

Any advice welcome.

The usual problem with the Beogram 8000 is a dodgy tachodisc which helps control the speed - the BG8000 uses an acetate one which degrades - and deteriorating capacitors. Martin (dillen on site) can provide a metal tachodisc and a capacitor kit with instructions.

I recently partially restored a Beogram 8000. Get the service manual first and read the archive threads on the 8000 and 8002. There's a lot of good advice out there. As Peter said, you probably need a new tachometer-disc. You will also need a new servo-motor belt which is probably slipping or broken by now. My personal approach is to fix all of the mechanical issues first. Without the mechanics, the electronics are useless.

Welcome to the forums. Nice system you have there. I hope to find a Beomaster 8000 of my own some day.

PS: Here's my Beogram 8000 in it's new home playing a 10"-EP.

Thanks for the advice. I have checked the basic mechanicals, unit has a steel tachodisc which looks ok and servo motor belt is on and looks in good condition.
