hi everybody I'm new so please be patient. I have 8 bro lab 4000 speakers they are one after another beginning to crackle badly. I have to power them down. They may work ok for 1 hour and that's max. I contacted my dealer who asked if I've had a power surge. No was my reply they took one away and said the amp had blown? Does anybody know if b&o have a issue with these speakers and not letting on. Speakers are 5 years old.

Have you considered the speaker surrounds. Five years isn't that old, but I would look to see if the surrounds are not cracked. Take the grills off, and see if your speakers are not cracked on the edges.

Walter,

welcome to Beoworld and well done for being a Gold member.  Also from my neck of the woods (Ashton, then Sale and Chorlton).

Do they do this no matter what the are connected to - what are they connected to?  To have all of them go like this I would say is unheard of.  I have 6 BL4000's and not a problem between them.

What cables do you have for them?  If you swap cables does it change?  How are the speakers set-up and what with - TV, audio source etc?

Dave.

Sorry they were fitted by b&o it looks like a telephone line cable the one with all the coloured wires in. I've had crackling issues since they were installed. They came out on numerous occasions and reconnected the wires and they were fine. I think the wire they used is not adequate and that's caused the issues!

Which B&O CD player?  Are the speakers connected to the TV or the CD player - I'm guessing it's a BS9000 but please tell us what it is.  I'm confused by the cables you describe.  The cable with lots of colours is a Masterlink cable to connect the TV to the CD pklayer - is that what you have?  A picture would be good.  The speakers should be connected to your TV with Powerlink cables (black like these):

http://soundsheavenly.com/powerlink-8-pin-din-connection/20-powerlink-mk-3-compatible-8-pin-din-cable-with-4-cores-wired-low-profile-cable.html

This may just be a cable issue which is easily fixable.

Dave.

OK Walter, nice set-up.  Was it already installed when you bought the house or have you just had it installed?  If the latter, who did it and when?

So, you have a BS9000 connected by Masterlink to your Beovision 7.  I see 2 BL4000 speakers, where are the others?  Do you have a multi-room set-up with speakers in other parts of the house?  If you have speakers in the rest of the house, how are they controlled - do you have any IR eyes on the walls and any connection boxes?

We really need to know which speakers are connected to what?  You may have some directly connected to the TV and possibly some to the BS9000.

Dave.

Ah, you hadn't mentioned using Sonos (it does say 'sonia' on your first post so I suppose I should have twigged!).  That could well be the issue.  If you don't use it, just get rid of it.  What do you actually want to achieve with your system?  Do you want to watch the TV in your main room but allow someone else to listen to radio or CD in another room?  Once you decide what you want it to do, just tell B&O Manchester and they should be able to sort it out for you.

Please give feedback when B&O come to inspect it and tell us what they do.

Dave.

HI Dave,

B&o been today reckon my Dolby sound panel knackered having a new one fitted in 10 days.  Out of warranty said I wasn't happy all that money and 6 years later this happens hoping for free fix what's your thoughts. I've a 10 year old Panasonic TV in my office passed from pillar to post with no issues the question has to be asked is b&o worth the expense? Purchased h8 Bluetooth headphones today and very impressed.  Thanks for your input and please keep in touch.
