What do you guys think of the Beomaster 1400K?

I don’t know anything about this vintage Beomaster and a family member has one in Calgary with one channel out.

I am sure that all I’d have to offer is the shipping cost, but is it worth that?

I think my mother had one of these, played good for many years 1970 until 2004, normally tuned to the same FM station, always sitting on a cupboard in a corner of her dining room, nothing special or breathtaking. As far as I can see from the manual it has silicon transistors so it is repairable.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Hi Søren,

I will see if my Scottish friend and future relative (tomorrow by marriage) would like to part with her amp.

Thanks for the input! Yes - thumbs up

Jeff

As she is Scottish and woman it will be a hard deal. Or maybe Guillaume can repair it and you can give it back to her as a late marriage gift. It would be nice to save it somehow. I would like to have one but the shipping costs would probably kill me. I havent seen one on Epay over here, so for this continent it is rare. Good luck with the wedding, I am off to cook, Lady Sylvia has B-day today, so food for 30-50 persons will be needed. The Minestrone soup is prepared and just has to be heated. A meat Lasagne will be prepared and ready for the oven, for the children I will make a creamy meatball spaghetti For entry or "bocadillo" a shrimp salad served with biscuits and small pieces of rye bread. The guest will start arriving at 1400 military hour and continue until about midnight, coming and going all of time. One never know how many and when they come, they may bring friends or mother in love or non, with Mexican you never know. FIESTA MUSIC B&O

Hi Søren,

First of all Happy Birthday Sylvia! Lets have a Party !!!

Second, the menu sounds heavenly. All of it.

As for the Beomaster 1400K, the lady is question is not of Scottish decent, she IS from Scotland….. the reputation for frugality being very, very well earned.

Still an extremely nice lady whom I am especially fond and is the future (a couple more hours) mother-in-law of my brother-in-law who is marring her daughter this afternoon, in kilts and bagpipes no less!

The subject of her Beomaster only came up as she has become “enlightened” as to my obsession with B&O. It was purchased in 1970 used by her late husband and has not fully functioned in years.

The easiest thing would be for me to just ask her for the 1400K and if agreeable, she could give it to my father-in-law who is attending the wedding in Calgary and he could bring it back on the airplane. (I couldn’t attend because I just got rid of a 24 hour blood pressure monitor this morning, plus I can’t get insurance if I leave the province. This monitor I do NOT recommend, what a pain in the butt.)

However, it is a wedding and bringing up the Beomaster in the middle of things is tacky. So I’ll wait until the celebrations come to an end.

Enjoy the birthday party!!!!

Jeff
