I am in the midst of restoring a 4002 type 5513 I got at a yard sale.
The main bearing (the platter bearing) has a lot of side-to-side play in it. Without a drive belt installed, it actually wobbles a bit.
Is this normal for the 4002?
Also, what lubricant is recommended for that bearing?
Thanks much.

Welcome to Beoworld !A little wobble is normal. Of course it should not happen while playing butif you press a little on opposite sides of the platter it will wiggle and that's just fine. The main bearing is sintered bronze. Sinter oil is best. It's not very critical but of course it shouldn't run dry.A thin grease would also work.Martin
Outstanding!
Thanks for the quick reply.
This "restoration" bogged down somewhat but is proceeding. There are two things I need to attend to, though. First the hinges on the dustcover have shattered and I need to find a replacement and, second, I'm having problems getting the turntable platter flush with the top mounting plate as it states in the service manual. If I adjust the "pendulum" suspension to bring the platter up flush, the suspension no longer floats.
I would appreciate any thoughts.
