Hello Beoworld,

My BV11-55 (Mk IV) is connected to two older Beolab 6002.

I was thinking of replacing them with two Beolab 18 and adding a subwoofer, ideally the BL 11 19 - mostly because of its wireless capabilities.

I have two questions:

1) Considering that 90% of the time we use the speakers for movies instead of music, should I expect a noticeable improvement? I've read a few discussions about the 18's but they were mostly referring to music..

2) The dealer offered 800€ for my 6002. Is it a good price? They are 4 years old.

Thanks for your help!

I think you meant the BL19 subwoofer, the 11 isn't wireless, unless I missed a spec update recently.

As far as the price for the 6002, here in the States, that appears to be a great price, but your mileage may vary across the pond.

Sal's correct, the BL11 is NOT wireless and if you use your speakers mostly for watching Movies then I would recommend the BL19 - The BL11 is not powerfull enough for movie effects.

I also agree the price you have been offered for your BL6002 sound fair.

BeoVision 11-55, BeoCenter 2, BeoLab 9s, BeoLab 3s, Beo4/5/6, BeoRemote One, BLGW, Transmitter 1, BeoLit 12, A8, H6, H8

Hi Marcelo

Bl18 no brainer unbelievable

For me the bass in bl18 is good enough and I saved the money for some bl17 instead of 19

6002s plummet significantly in value so 800 is about right I have a pair of 6000 from 1997 and I like them and kept them. I would keep them for another room or rears?

You are right, I think I should be trying them first without the subwoofer and decide later whether to get one or not.

I'm actually not so happy to part with the 6002. To use them as rears (which would be side since the couch is against the wall), I believe I need to get the wireless receivers. Thing is, while I was fond of surround sound years ago with cheaper systems (a Denon receiver with yamaha speakers), I got used to a three speaker setup after upgrading. I think I'm going to get the 18, borrow a couple of receivers and try the surround setup!

The alternative would be to use them in the bedroom with the BV10, but it's a bit of an overkill..

Thanks for your input!

Hi Marcelo,

Please do let us know how you get on.

I'm very interested in the comparison between the 6002's and the 18's as I've a BV11-46 with a pair of BL6002s as fronts, BL3's as rears (the 3's are connected wirelessly via Transmitter/Receiver 1's) and a BL19.

Like you I've been thinking of upgrading/replacing the fronts with BL18's, and move the 6002's upstairs to my BV11-40, but of course want to ensure there will be a significant improvement to justify to cost - I'll look at loaning a pair from my dealer to test but would be interested in your experience once you have them.

Cheers, Matt.
