So I have a tv, tx2, deezer feed and provision for a bluetooth feed all going into a single aux socket on the overture. A switch box was in order and a few pounds on eBay bought me a four way switch which worked a treat.

Two problems , one is that neither I or the dear wife could remember which position related to each feed, so labelling was required, the other thing was the box wasn't all that nice to look at, even though it mostly hidden in a cupboard.

So I decided to give it a facelift.

a bit of aluminium with a sublimation coating, cut to size, some appropriate symbols downloaded from the web, a couple of logos ( sorry b & o) , some artwork, printing and heat press and we have a new faceplate. Drill a hole in the right place, replace switch nut and add a dash of double sided tape and voila!

i appreciate it won't be one for the purists (sorry guys) and I'll probably have to destroy it when I get the lawyers letter, but as I was doing something else similar thought it might be a bit of fun for a Friday afternoon.

And I thought I'd make a little key tag (this time with a gold finish as that seems all the rage at the moment :-)

Sorry can't remember off hand I'll have a look through my ebay purchases and get back to you. Only cost around £12.95 IIRC and there are a few similar models - I choose this one as it was four way with a flat front panel which is what I wanted for this 'project'

Nice thingy and nice diy.
But sorry I don't get it, why put a companys logo and name on something they didn't make?
Would you like others to put your name and logo on something they made themselves?
Why not just put your own name on it?

Beautiful work Dave ! Thanks for sharing.

As long as you don't make money with this B&O personalized switch, you're safe

@ Minuscat : You ask an important question. But where's the limit?
Are you a cat? Confused
So why didn't you use your photo for your avatar?
Would you like cats use your photo as their avatar?

By the way, does this drawing belongs to you?

As I said, it's a bit of fun for a Friday afternoon.

I am expected to be able to show samples of my work to my customers, whether that be my embroidered or printed clothing, mugs, engraved glassware, engraved and printed metal etc. It's usual and expected that a variety of logos are used for this to best show off the a the actual product and the process used to achieve the end result. So I try to have some samples that a customer would be able to relate to their needs.

So for example I've added below a picture of a nice heavy lead crystal tankard, best shown off using a traditional looking rugby club crest (I didn't make many of those but ended up using the crest on the annual presentation hip flasks for the last few years) , it would'nt look quite so nice with say a logo from a low budget clearance shop chain , or my name. So in the unlikely event of me being contacted by sony to print the face plates for their latest product I can show them the finish that can be acheived with something relevant to their industry Smile

so that's the reason, there's not really an intent to make out its a b&o switch box any more than inferring that Landrover make shot glasses (and I've done that as well)

"Are you a cat?"
Are you seriously asking me this?

"So why didn't you use your photo for your avatar?"
Why should I?
And why don't you?

"Would you like cats use your photo as their avatar?"
Now, what kind of question is that?

"By the way, does this drawing belongs to you?"
Who cares, I didn't put a logo belonging to someone else on it, did I?
And do yours?

But if I'm not mistaken we aren't talking about avatars, are we?
We are talking about using a well-established and widely known design-related companys registrered
trademark logo on something they didn't authorize, let alone make.
I would be cross.

Hopefully reading my post above it explains it, if the forum mods think this is inappropriate please remove my post.

Thanks

I think that copyright laws are fairly flexible when it comes to one-offs and copies for private use.

Start selling or marketing and you are in trouble.

I think it looks great! Better than the flimsy plastic aux expander they made themselves. I don't think they will be bothered by an enthusiast who makes a "counterfeit" B&O switch to match his other equipment. Commenting on using the B&O logo in this way is just, to stay in animal terms, sheepish.

Come on, Minuscat !

I just took your sentences and changed B&O by cat...

You can understand that I'm just kidding, can't you?

I assume Minuscat has another identity on the forum too. He uses Minuscat when he wants to act as a Watchdog, I have never seen him give help or good advices, he probably uses his other identity for that. On the other hand his posts does give a lot of comments and liven up the forum a little.

I myself copy, steal pics and copyrighted material for private use and for helping others. In my opinion if something is published on the internet it is free to use for private purposes, if the publishers dont want it to be used they can protect it or sell it for a fee.

BTW Dave: Nice job the source selector looks a lot better that way and I would like to have the key tag.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

The story above reminds me of the day I put a Ferrari batch on my pedal car, it looked so much cooler and

I'm sure it sounded better and went faster too.

My question was actually to your first posting, about your troubles with posting Pictures. I was asking what device you were using since you could not post Pictures. But you have answered that now - and also what switching device you use. Thank you. Smile <img src=" />

Very nice job. It looks good Yes - thumbs up And don't worry that B&O will sue you for using their logo.
