Hi,

I recently acquired a BeoVision 3 almost for free. It came with this video stand:

Unfortunately, mine has many scratches visible, primarily on the top surface. The TV does not cover all of them:

It appears that this cabinet scratches easily. What can I do to restore it to its former glory, or something close to it?

I've never done this sort of thing. All I can think of is "black paint". And stickers. :-)

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello, and welcome to BeoWorld!

I'd remove those little lugs on the top and get a glazier to cut you a sheet of smoked or black toughened glass to the exact size of the top of the unit.

Voila! Easy to dust - and looks good too!!

I would take off the lugs, sand down the the surface with 200 grain then 400 grain wet clean with paint thinner or acetone, spray with black mate and then maybe the tempered glass piece

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Sand it down and then PlastiDip it to get the rubber finish. or regular mat paint and then the tinted glass as also suggested.

Thank you for the welcome Lee and thank you all for your suggestions.

So, how does this sound for a plan...

The first thing I'll do is to remove the "lugs". I'm not sure what their purpose is supposed to be. A BeoVision 3 is unlikely to fall off the stand, lugs or no lugs.

Then I'll use coarse sandpaper to remove the original rubber coating, finish off with fine sandpaper, and "wet clean" with acetone.

After that I'll spray with some matte black paint. Generic matte black spray paint seems to be easier for me to come by than Plasti Dip. I guess I can just coat with Plasti Dip later if I'm not satisfied with the looks and want something closer to stock. Likewise with the tinted glass. I can add it later as required.

Also, I've just discovered that one of the hinges is defective. :-( I've opened it up and this plastic part is broken:

Anyone has a spare or know where to get one?

Hi,

sorry for hijacking the thread but i'm also looking for a hinge for my stand. The left hinge in the middle is broken at my stand. If a left hinge is over somewhere please contact me. Smile

Regarding the lugs, they help to center the Beovision 3 and if the stand will be user for BV 3 i would recommend to leave it.

I've seen a seller in the UK selling the hinges a couple of times on eBay. Keep an eye out.
