Hi all,

I've been holding off posting this for quite a while, I have always wanted a BeoVision 5 for its design or a BeoVision 9 for its design and performance... a few months ago i realized that i could actually afford one! April this year I purchased it from LifeStyle AV who i've become a bit of a regular customer of due to their amazing service and stock.

Anywho after paying the excessive Australian import charges and all the anticipation with getting together friends who could lend a hand moving the beast inside, the shipping company have dropped it haven't they! Screen is cracked at all four corners and it doesn't switch on. Worst still, DSV air and freight (yes i'm naming names!) refused to take responsibility for their negligence. Nightmare yes? Well to be honest i knew it would all be okay in the end because of where i'd purchased it from, so I wasn't getting myself upset.

Just today i received the best news, LSAVs insurance broker gave the go ahead for the repair of the BV9 here, and better still, the 720p panel is still available through B&O here, great news for me as at least half of the content will be watching will be SD content upscaled through the Beosystem 3.

I'm so excited again, that's all i can say, because up until now i had spend quite a large portion of my hard earned coin on a useless but beautiful inanimate lounge room ornament, where the furniture is faced away from it.

My next post will most probably be myself in an emotional state after i've finally switched on this awesome telly to finally experience it in our very own living room :)

Soon i'll be getting a PS3 to enjoy Blurays and maybe even gaming (something i haven't been into since i was 12 years old) If there are any other BV9/4 owners out there who have any recommendations, tips or tricks for me, please feel free to chime in!

Looking forward to getting a longer cable for the BC2 socket unit and hiding the set top box, DAC and other things such as excess runs of cable inside the BV9s recess where the BeoMedia would have been, so it's a nice and clean set up...

HUGE shout out to LifeStyle AV, they dealt with it all beautifully and its always a treat dealing with Matt. He always has such a tenacious approach to making everything work out hunky dory for his customers.

set-up looks great - and hopefully soon you will see and hear it in full colour, motion and sound

and I take my hat off to you for the courage of shipping it - and the great fortune in being able to effect the inevitable repairs

well done mate !

Did it drop off a forklift in original packing?

The original packing is a reinforced crate, can't understand how anyone or anything could have dropped that!

What a bummer to get the TV that far and have all the hassle, but good news it is being sorted! I think I'd have been heart broken! I'm sure you'll be so chuffed once it is all sorted and up & running.

The setup looks really nice with the monochrome look! I Have the Beovision 5 and absolutely love it. We are just about to re model the living room. The previous owner knocked through the dining room & living room to make one big room but didn't completely remove the walls so there are 20cm  "pillars" jutting into the room on each side of the gap and the top was not taken up to the ceiling so drops down 40cm. (Ugly). It turns out they didn't put in any sort of support when they took the wall out so there's quite a lot to put right and that meant we changed our minds over how the room can look. Now that we have to rip it apart  anyway, we can make it as we want rather than make do.

Anyway, once it is done we are having the BV5 wall mounted. (I recently bought a wall bracket). WeI have 4 Beolab Penta II's for the room and we are mounting our Beosound 9000 vertically beside the TV. We had planned to go all white & modern (we even bought a large glossy white low media unit) but the room will have a new oak floor so we are going to paint the walls just off white (natural linen colour) install the BV5 & BS 9000 above the media unit and live with it or a few weeks and then decide on a colour for the suite & curtaining. The "suite" we have at the moment is a group of 2 settees and 4 chairs we have bought in the last few months. All second hand, various ages, styles, colours, fabrics & states of repair. We will re-cover them to look like they were all bought together and probaly make the curtains in the same fabric.  We even bought a large "flokati" rug (like your white one in your picture) but that will have to go in another room as it will not suit now things are changing!

Hope your TV is fixed soon and good luck with sorting out your extra boxes and cables. B&O looks stunning but gosh is it hard to keep the cabling tidy and hidden. You might want to think about how you will control your PS3 (something like this probably)

Thanks elephant you're too kind, really the hats should go off to LS-AV as they were the ones who dealt with DSV and all the stressful stuff!

The original packing is a reinforced crate, can't understand how anyone or anything could have dropped that!

It was in its original crate, Ian. Only god will ever know what actually happened, as DSV didn't own up to it, but our local technician looked at the box and said it could have either been dropped from a greater height, or tipped over (the latter more likely). The tech guy also said that B&O use pricey tip / shock sensors when transporting goods, which is now obviously necessary when dealing with certain shipping companies so that one can prove the damage was done by the freight company and not the sender or receiver!

The PS3 can be controlled through the BS3s IR PUC, is that correct Stoobie? Hope so! :) I'll be hiding cables and everything inside the BV9 cabinet behind its speaker fret (except the BC2 socket unit and PS3 which will be placed just behind the BV9).
Make sure you post pictures of your lovely new room when it's sorted, sounds like it will be great!

Wow, these things happen I guess, would be a first as far as I am concerned but maybe I had better learn from this.  Am sure it will be sorted and good luck.  Surprised it is not a complete write-off.

PS3 can be controlled by the IR Puc but the professional solution is to go for re-bl, ir to blutooth complete ps3 integration, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it.
