Hi

I have recently purchased a BEOSOUND 9000 MK2 is there a process to check if it has the updated chip to allow N-MUSIC. I believe it's product  834408.

Can anyone advise of the procedure to have the chip upgraded if it is not present.

Regards

Nigel

Whats the type no? (does it have the big RED mechanical power button on the side?)

The type 257x had the update build in

If its a 252x or 256x it needs software and most likely a chip installed see below:

N.MUSIC service software

A service software 2.2 supporting the new source N.MUSIC via BeoLink PC 2 has been developed for BeoSound 9000 type 252x (produced from 04-1996) and type 256x (produced from 09-1998). BeoSound 9000 type 257x (produced from 06-2001) is prepared for the N.MUSIC command.

N.MUSIC:
The BeoPlayer PC software in combination with BeoLink PC 2 (box and software) are the Bang & Olufsen products which make the organisation (BeoPlayer) and distribution (BeoLink PC 2) of Internet-stored music possible.

The N.MUSIC command is available via the List in Beo4 IR terminal from EE software 4.2
(serial no. 14903590). On older IR terminals the A.TAPE2 command will activate N.MUSIC.

BeoVision 11-55, BeoCenter 2, BeoLab 9s, BeoLab 3s, Beo4/5/6, BeoRemote One, BLGW, Transmitter 1, BeoLit 12, A8, H6, H8

Can you just press N.MUSIC on the Beo4, and have the Beosound display N.Music on the red display? (apologies if this is simplistic, but I recall the Beosound displaying N MUSIC when I owned an MkIII, regardless of whether it is getting an audio signal or not - my memory could be faulty)
