Hi All,
I have sent my BG 8002 for repair and the guy has told me I need a new microprocessor. Does anyone know of anyone who has one or if anyone is able to repair or rebuild them?
Really want this baby working again!
Thanks in advance.
Tony B.
Are you sure it's what you need?
what symptoms do you have ?
jason
Hi Jason,
Yes he is as he has substituted one from another unit he had in. He was a B&O dealer. As remember when you pressed play the arm started to move and then went back to rest. Any advise I will pass o.
Thanks in advance,
Tony.
Well if he's swapped one from another and that solves it it must be that.
thought I'd ask as more than once I've heard a processor been blamed when someone can't find the actual fault
good luck
Thanks Jason. Will do.
The symptom is that of an unexpected CPU reset, not necessarily a dead CPU though I've seen that diagnose before..Replace the IC socket.Replace the 47uF cap next to the CPU and all electrolytic caps on the main board - a kit is avialable.

Martin thank you for that I will get the guy to check exactly what's going on with it as it been a long while since I've seen it.
Many Thanks for you input.
Martin,
Where is the kit available and do you have any contacts for anyone who could undertake the repair.
Regards,
I make the kits and I can also service discrete modules/boards sent to me.Martin
Hi Martin,
I have spoken to the guy doing the repairs and he is keen to get one of your kits and tackle the board himself. Can you let me know how much it is, how to pay, and I will send you his details.
Thank you,
Regards, Tony.

Why "replace the IC socket"?
The sockets used by B&O are not of the best quality. They oxidizes, as Lee says, but they also lose contact tension, causing all kinds of faults.I see it more and more, enough to replace the sockets on sight with one of a much better quality.
