hi everyone!
Last week whilst i wasn't in the room. Someone decided to use my Avant for playing rather loud techno dance music. he had the volume on almost full blast! must have been about 52 or so. When he left i used my TV and instantly the sound is nowhere near as good as it was before he used it. The bass isn't as punchy as it used to be and the sound sounds rather water. The detail and clarity has gone and it sounds rather similar to someone standing in front of it (muffled sounding) A B&O engineer came out monday and said the TV sounded fine! I was truly unsatisfied with his answer. He said that the TV would have cut out completely if there was a fault with it or if there was any inconsistency with quality. i asked is it possible something could have burned out. He then says it has a strip that heats up on the board, and once it has surpasses a certain temperature the software drops the quality to protect the components and speakers. I then asked is it possible this could have happened? he says possibly. but the volume would have dropped to 90%
If this is the case is there anyway of resetting the software on the TV or does anyone suspect any other issues?

Still friends with your neighbours?

He was a bit of an uninvited guest to be honest! Do you have an answer for the problem?
No sorry but I could ask my friend and member Ipaul who's a specialist in repairing Avants.

That would be very helpful!! Thank you!
Hi, if you have a surround board installed you could set the tv/sound to 'noise' (like an FM radio which isn't tuned, static) ad if you listen to the 4 speaker units closely, you can easily hear if all 4 still work (that is: left high, left low, right high and right low).
If the sound settings don't help much, especially the treble control, it's not unlikely the tweeters didn't survive (but i may have those if needed).
No, it's just straight forward amps and speakers... :)
So start with checking settings first as suggested (maybe it is set to some dolby setup and your built in speakers are now only center, by accident).
If it's not that, figure out if one or more of the speaker units aren't working.
The Amps in the Avant cut off if pushed, but return to normal once cooled!! place your nose next to the tweeters, you will smell chared/burnt voice coil if blown, i suggest setting too, Bass trebble ect,
You can dismantle the front cloth to check for damages:

Thanks for the help so far guys! i will get my friend who is normally good at things like speakers to have a look at them. There could be a possibility that the tweeters are broken. cause the Highs and Mids sound really poor!
Finger numbing trying to get the frets off! i have broken a clip sadly. but its not that big a deal! although having a look at the tweeters there appears to be nothing wrong with them!
