Just saw, that there was a small update on my V1.

Not much, but something, that I have had wished for...

With an earlier update a 'time out' for the screen - when playing from Spotify... or audio from H.Media - was introduced. Very annoying, as I found.

Now you can choose to keep this 'time-out', to have no picture showing or to have it always on.

I prefer 'always on', as I like to see, what I listen to.

Bravo - thanks for that.

Now we just need Spotify to update their TV apps.

It's quite annoying that it's still based on the old "Starred" format. Spotify changed from "Starred" songs to "My music" quite some time ago. And all music located in the new folders are not shown in the TV-app.

Beovision Eclipse gen2 (GX) w/ floorstand, Beolab 14.2, 4 speaker Shape and ATV4/Chromecast.

Beoplay A9mk4 GVA, Beosound 1 GVA, H2, H3, H8, E6, Beoplay EQ

That's great! Permanent displaying of audio source is back! Never understood why they changed it. Was very annoying indeed.

Nice update regarding the screen blanking
Also the 'Teletekst' issue that we experienced in NL has now been solved.
Hope they will add ALAC support for home media in a next update.

BeoVision 11-55, BeoLab 8000, BeoRemote One BT, AppleTV 4, 2x BeoPlay A2, BeoPlay A1

I got the update on my avant and v1 also. Still can't let speaker group be left unchanged when changing source. Very annoying. Very.

Start Avant

Select menu

Select Source list

Place the cursor on a source

Select red-button (set-up)

Select Advanced setting

Select Speaker groups; adjust to the preferred group

Store settings

Repeat for all sources and choose the same speaker group for all the sources.

Than at least, with most normal day to day use  you will have NO switching of groups between different sources

Here's the text from the HELP (blue button) when you're in the choices for the new Picture Off setting with the SW Update:

<<

Selecting NEVER means that the screen switches on, when you select the audio source and the picture/menu remains on the screen. However, you can remove the picture from the screen by using the remote control cue 'PICTURE OFF'

>>

Shouldn't the description state "PICTURE MUTE" as the remote control function to use, or is "PICTURE OFF" a valid term on the BeoRemote One or more modern remote?

Maybe it's just me, but I can't for the life of me see why you would want to do that?  Surely that would completely defeat the purpose of having speaker groups anyway?

These are two eays of hadling speakers group.

Even if they wanted to do Michael that favour, I am not sure, that it would be possible to implement both - at least not if you want to maintain simplicity of using the speaker groups.

surely one could have picked another description of these additional settings.

As I see it - how it is made in the settings, is that one can set the preferences (that you usually don't change that often).

P.Mute is something, that you actively do, if you need it in a certain situation - e.g. you can P.Mute the news on tv or P.Mute Youtube, if you just want to listen.

Anyway - regardless of which terms the choose for these settings/actions, I am pleased to have these choises now.

Yeah but no but yeah

What Michael is after say he was listening to a speaker group such as rear only and he changes his source he wants to remain on rear only

He wants his last speaker group to remain no matter the source and not the source to dictate the sound Big Smile

I know. I have it like this now.

But ok. Tell me what is best:

A) choosing the speaker group after the time of day, activity or mood.

B) have speaker groups chosen by source.

For me, speaker groups are better to choose between for different times of day. Like evenings. I don't want the bass of my BL9's then. So if I change, and then change source then of course they are turned on again.

I guess some people actually do want their big speakers to be on for just one or a few sources. But for me it would be better to do it the other way, like all other systems on the planet that is.

I tried answering from my phone with the app but the answer disappeared.

Anyway. Regarding speaker groups. I find it much more realistic to have them to choose from for different occasions, such as nighttime, party, movie time or just background TV or different placements.

I find it less realistic that most people want different speaker groups for different sources. Of course there are reasons for this but not everyone wants that I am sure (I am one of them).

Most systems out there works on the principle I suggest. It should be super easy for B&O to address this in software. Super easy.

I am happy to have this as an option.

My point was that if B&O were going to state a remote control option in the description, shouldn't they have gotten the actual words which you choose on the remote control exactly right? Is there "PICTURE OFF" or "PICTURE MUTE" as a choice on a Beo4 or BeoReoremote One? If there isn't a "PICTURE OFF" menu option on a Beo4 or BeoRemote One, then don't use those words -- especially when formulating a help description.

Personally, I like to listen to radio using just the built-in speaker of my BV 11, while I use only the front external speakers for Spotify, so I'm one of the few appreciating the ability to set a specific group per source :)

i am not sure, that we are few - it is my choice too.

Although it may be a bit offtopic in this thread - it would be nice to hear from others, how (or if) they use speaker groups?

A lot - probably - will use them 'as installed', when the tv was setup.

My Setup and Speaker Groups:

Setup: BV11-55 connected to a pair of BL9's.

Speaker Groups:

Regular TV (TiVO): BV11 speakers only

Spotify / HomeMedia: BL9s only (I use HomeMedia for music only)

Apple TV: BV11 as center + BL9 as L and R (I use Apple TV for movies, etc)
