Hi There BeoWorld.

I have a Beovision 7 MK2, but i'm starting to think that the picture quality of it just ain't that great anymore compared to other tv's.

I have talked to my retailer, and he says that he can install a HD-module which will enable me to watch HD-channels.

But will the module improve the picture quality?

Interesting dilemma. In many ways, on a HD TV (1080p panel), a HD picture will make a significant difference over SD as SD has to upscale and looks pixelated.

However, your MKII has a screen which doesn't require upscaling and can render an SD picture more effectively - some people argued that the MKII picture was better than the MKIII, for that reason alone.

Personally, I'd either keep the MKII for a bit longer, or trade it in and use the money you would have paid for the HD "upgrade" against another TV?

The HD upgrade effectively enables you to accept a HD signal via the DVI socket. Doesn't do anything to the panel itself.

Okay, thanks for the reply. I think I rather just wait and save some more money up if the HD-upgrade doesn't do anything to the panel.

But it's a shame, because I love the design of the BV7, but the MK2 quality just isn't great.

You can see the pixels if you get close to the TV, and the black isn't that black anymore...

So, I better start saving up so I can afford a new BV7 ;)

Buy an HD Fury 3.

Is yours a type 9364?  It must be an early one not to have had the HD board.

Mark, I have sold about 100+ of these over the past six years, I am sorry I am not familiar with type 9460 - is this a UK spec?  Where are you located?  What are the first four digits of the s/n please?

No, it is bought in Denmark at Kgs. Nytorv.

The first four digits of the serial number is: 1946

I would have expected a 1946 to have had the DVI-I board in it already.  Have you checked the HDTV selection in any of the connections settings?

Well that settles it, the sw certainly isn't in there!  Just surprised really because in the uk market a mk2 in this manufacturing run would almost certainly have been fitted with the hd board.  The only other suggestion I can make if I am correct is that the board has been removed, perhaps touch base with B&O and clarify the original spec.  Maybe it is a difference between markets but I doubt it!

How does that work?

Does the TV picture look sharper or does it just enable you to play PS3 on the TV?

I'm getting the impression, that there is really nothing that I can do to get the picture to look sharper.

I guess that the TV is just "outdated"

I fired up a 1934x Beovision 7-40 MK2 today, DVI socket is active.

If you use the HD FURY 3 then you can watch at 1080i, twice the resolution at what you are watching now,

HD FURY 3 is 2 HDMI sockets to Component.  If you cannot watch over DVI-I then you do not have the DVI-I Scaler board!

wooooaaaaaahhhhh slow down.  Re-read the original post and looks like there has been a misunderstanding.  It appears you are referring to the DVB-HD tuner upgrade and not the DVI-I scaler board which your TV lacks.

No, I think the DVB-HD tuner upgrade isn't worth it, better to get the scaler board upgraded and to use with an HD PVR, use the component input with HD FURY 3 for 2 x HDMI to Component 1080i.......... or just change the screen

But it's not that I need HDMI ports or anything like that.

I was just wondering if there was a way to get the picture to look sharper.

My TV signal goes through the Antenna connection, and I believe that there is a DVI connection on the back.

hello,

Very best picture with HDFURY3 but not for the sound. The sound is very best with sd picture and scart cable.

It's impossible to use it with cox cables and  it's  a dilema  best sound  and poor picture or good picture but poor sound.

As i have been there some years ago i would suggest you do the step if you are not willing to change your B&O TV in the near future. An HD-KIT is installed on your BV and then you can use your DVI-I soccket with HDMI-DVI adapter. The quality of the picture improves drastically even on 32'' on HD broadcast content and on Blurays. It is more than worth doing it, IF you are not willing to spend some thousands on a new B&O TV set.
