My beloved Beomaster 7000 is having problems - again.
After having worked perfectly since the last service (service note: "bad soldering at C15"), two days ago it started again. When I plug the machine to mains (I keep it disconnected from mains at night) the A.OPT has set itself to 0 (ie. no remote control). When I change it by remote, I can operate the machine, but sound settings (vol, bass, treble, balance etc) have turned to random values and tuned radio stations sometimes appear or not (on some attempts only preset 15 exists). When I get lucky, my preset stations are present and work.
Since the problem was last time caused by bad solderings, that might still be the cause of the problem. I still don't feel very confident working with a machine of this complex. Might take a look anyway. I am afraid my previous repairman is on holiday, so I can't just send the BM over.
All ideas are -again- welcomed.
It sounds like the back-up battery is dead.
So you can choose to either change the battery -or to keep the mains plugged. But to change the battery is not something you should try, if you're not confident with the machine. Leave that to someone who knows what he's doing.
Oh - I just saw that there is a thread on the subject:

I agree, definitely a battery case.

I agree, looks like a dead Li cell.
If you keep it plugged in and on standby you wouldn't have this problem!
So you are saving the planet or saving a miniscule amount on your electricity bill and now you have inconvenience and a repair bill

Hmm. I kept the Beomaster plugged in today, and it does keep the A.OPTION, but sound settings get lost, even if I just set the BM to standby. Could a very-dead Li-cell cause that?! The machine was at an authorized B&O service last time, so I'd guess he would have replaced the battery, if that was the problem.
One more thing; I just switched the system on (first time today, ie. connected to mains), and now sound settings, A.OPT, and my radio presets are back to normal! Everything is as it used to be. What do you say about that?!
Keep the mains plug in and see how it behaves in the next couple of days.
If everything works, then continue. Or try after a few days to pull the plug - if settings are lost again, then it might still be the battery...
