Hello again I am returning after a long absence as I have just got a Beocenter 4600. It has been hardly used but stored in an unfortunate place as all the grease has dried. Most of it is now working but the pickup raising and lowering does not work.
Looking at it there is a plastic collar under the arm pivot with a flange and the adjusting screw rests against this. I have assumed this collar moves up and down to raise the pickup but it does not move and seems quite solid. I can not see anything in the service data that shows how it should work so I am wondering whether I am mistaken.
Can anyone advise me on this as I don't want to do anything drastic if I am completely wrong as the leads from the cartridge come through the centre tube and are obviously fragile.
Thanks in advance
John
I have now resolved the problem. Careful inspection with the deck removed showed that the large collar was free. The problem was the lifting bar was seized in its bush. Releasing the lower end of the bar enabled it to be freed using penetrating oil. It is now operating as expected which is a relief.
Welcome back !
And thanks for your feedback to your own thread. This is a very common problem and we've had many threads about this, only these may have been in relationto different Beogram models rather than the Beocenter 4600.
Good job!
Martin
Thank you Martin for your reassurance that I had not done anything silly.
