Hi all,
I've just treated myself to a Beomaster 7000 to replace my 5500. I also bought a Beolink 7000 a few months ago when I was offered one, and was looking forward to being able to use it.
However - I've just tried it on the Beomaster 7000 and it does not register any contact with the system - it only works one way. Fortunately my MCP 5500 works both ways which presumably means the Beomaster is OK, and there is an issue with the Beolink.
I replaced the two batteries in the Beolink when I bought it - but not the caps which I now gather can cause problems with receiving of signals. Before I resort to dismantling it all over again - is there anything else simple it can be? Presumably there is no setting on the remote I need to configure?
If I do have to replace the caps I might bite the bullet and replace the luminescent film at the same time.
Thanks
Mark
There is a Setup sequence for programming the Environment.
Setup: remove and add the components installed. During this sequence the BL7000 tests the capability to use 2-way communication. If there is no correct answer of the other Hardware the BL7000 uses 1-way.
But... 90% of all BL7000 have bad caps meanwhile. Quite normal Service work...
Thank you for the reply. I did not know about that - but have now tried to remove all of the components and add them back in again. The light on the front of the Beomaster flashes each time I add a component - but unsurprisingly the two way comms still doesn't work.
Looks like a rebuild is required then - and I've ordered the parts from Conrad and will replace the electroluminescent film at the same time. This is my most challenging repair job to date - given how small and delicate the components are I hope I don't wreck it .
I've also just found that mine is the Mk1 version that doesn't display RDS information which is a shame. C'est la vie.
Right I've had a go at this with so far mixed results.
I've successfully replaced the caps - and this has restored the two way communication. I had to add and remove the components again but after that it is working a treat and finally I'm able to use the system the way B&O intended :).
Unfortunately the back light did not go so well. I dismantled the screen and removed the old film. I cut down the new one, and whilst I was fitting it on one of the pins came out of the film. I guess it must have been faulty. The pins are much more delicate than the originals, but I wasn't rough with it. I've put the old one back in and am now having trouble getting the screen aligned correct. It's 90% there and is usable but I'm missing some pixels and want to get it back the way it was.
Is there a technique to getting the screen back aligned properly or is it just trial and error? I can't see any alignment marks to use. I did note where it was but turns out this was not accurate enough.
Thanks for all of your help.
