That is a loaded question and I don't believe there is an answer that will cover all cases. The same is true for buying the used turntable. In some cases you will find a turntable that is pristine because the owner(s) have kept it maintained and in a good environment. In other cases the turntable might have been stored in a damp basement or hot attic for twenty years. The job restoring it in each case is different. With cartridges you have all sorts of other factors in buying a used cartridge. You likely will not know the true history of the cartridge so you don't know how many records played and how well the previous users maintained those records. Were they often dirty or were many of them warped?

Unless the seller swears the cartridge is new old stock or can vouch that the cartridge was rarely used, I assume the cartridge has at least fifty percent wear.  If that will be your main cartridge and you have new records, I would send the cartridge to one of the cartridge refurbishing companies for an evaluation. There are three I know of - Axel Schürholz, Benny Amina and Soundsmith (not any any order).  They can tell you what condition your cartridge is in and do any repairs if necessary.
The Beocenter 7007 originally came with the MMC4 cartridge which is fourth in the family of MMC1 through MMC5 cartridges. You can buy refurbished MMC4 cartridges or upgrade to an MMC3 from the cartridge places I listed above. Then you know the exact condition of the cartridge.

Cartridges and stylus can take up a big part of your vinyl budget but it is critical to getting good sound from your turntable.

A pickup cartridge will last as long as a set of car tires.

Use it every day and it eventually wears down.
Don't use it for twentyfive years and the rubber dries out and fails at first use.
