Dear Members,

Since the Beolab 19 woofer is available in rose gold, I'm interested to buy a pay of rose gold Beolab 18 with Beolab 19. I’m still a bit unsure if this will be the right decision or if I get bored about the color after a few months… please share your thoughts.

I searched in the forum and most people are fascinated from the Beoplay A9. Does anyone here has another product from the Love Affair Collection at home? Then please share your pictures.

Have a great day - Carlo

My only concern would be if I got just one pair. Imagine in the future when this colour might not be available you end up with a black television, a gold pair of 18's,a silver 19 etc etc the etc

If I was buying the full setup then yes, if not I think I'd end up regretting them.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

If you love them then go for them.

My only concern would be that you would not be able to upgrade any individual elements of your system in the future with rose gold pieces.

The rose gold Beolab 19 is a stunning piece. The black casing with the rose gold accent works really well, and would match an all black Beovision 11 perfectly

I've thought of this myself, as I've got an all black BV11. Yum!

Very nice Hiort, love the rocket ship!

Martin, very nice, that is probably the most "traditionally" decorated, rather than modernist, home I've ever seen B&O in, and it looks great there. And I think the rose gold blends in with the wood marvelously, this is one of the few cases I've seen where I think rose gold blends in better than aluminum. It's nice to see that such modern design as B&O can and does integrate well with more traditional decor.

Jeff

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

Beovirus victim, it's gotten to be too much to list!

I agree with Jeff's comments - the rose gold is so beautifully tonal with that wood, it puts it in the background and the foreground.

Hiort - the A9 LAC is my favourite :-) So beautiful, and Martin's set up makes me think so positively about the BL18

Carlito, the BL18 looks fantastic alongside your cool chair. Matches perfectly. I have the BL18 in the same colour. How about a picture of your BL19. Would love to see it.

@Duels: as the white Beolab 19 was currently sold out at my dealer he lend me a silver one (which is not matching my interior). The white Beolab 19 will arrive around 21th August. Picture will follow. Here a picture from the other Beolab 18 next to the Eames LTR....

Very nice table Carlito. I can see why you went for the White BL19. It will look absolutely spectacular. Having seen your decor I think you made the right choice not to go for the rose gold kit.

Are you just using the BL18s and 19 for music?  I have the BL18 on their own and I think they sound fantastic.  So I was wondering how much of an improvement you feel the BL19 makes. I'm a little bit tempted........

Thanks Duels for the nice words.

Currently the Beolabs are not yet connected to the new Essence MK2 (see separate thread). Few months ago I moved to my girlfriend with my Beolab 5 and honestly she hated them from the beginning (ugly looking aliens). Now they are sold and the deal was to buy the 18 with the 19. From aesthetical point of view the Beolab 18 are fantastic speakers! Sound wise as well, but currently I can not judge on them how they will sound in my livingroom. Will set up the speakers on the weekend.

Keep you posted

I which case yours was BOOM Big Smile

I have not fiddled with any of the BL19's settings - don't know if the standard B&O shop floor settings make it plug compatible with the BL2 ...

The BV8 is from the era when there was only a BL2 Whisper

So there is no customisation in the BV's menu Unsure

Ok, yeah im not sure. I am glad that you went with the BL19 though. It's just so beautiful to look at.

Im sure it will give you much pleasure, especially in music and movies.

The point of what???

If someone says 'especially in music and movies', there must be some other cases.

I was taught, that the look of the BL19 alone (the design, even if it is silent) also is such a case - which I did not think of at first.

So seriously, what do you mean with your comment?

Sorry Carlito for the lack of weekend pictures.

I am seriously very happy with the BL19

I used to only activate the BL11 for movies, and just use the the BV's centre speaker for talking heads TV and even most shows (GoT, TD, HoC etc being quality exceptions)

As an experiment on Saturday we had some TV with the BL19

Wow ! Even the ABC's station jingles came to life !!

And some shows positively reeked menace at key points when you could and then feel a sense of dread that otherwise would be missing

Triple WOW factor !!!

You're right about the use of bass for ominous points in movies and such. I've noticed that more and more shows and movies use deep bass as a way to build tension, usually people don't even notice some of it if they're into the movie or such, just that they get tense. One of the first movies I ever saw that did that was "Jacob's Ladder." The scene where he has a total freak out and hallucinations during a party, as he's walking thru the crowded room, before the visions start, there's this sub bass, deep, at first very low volume tone that increases slowly until the freak out starts. Really really adds to the stress and creepiness of the scene.

Well, look at this!

The colour from the "Love Affair" matches (for about 95%) with the stripes on the Beolab/vox Penta.

Some call it an "outdated" colour on an "outdated" loudspeaker.

But imho,  updating the Penta with new black cloth and looking and comparing the edges from the new Avant with the edges/corners from the Penta, makes them a perfect match I say!

Together with the full upgrade and overhaul on the mids, filters, boards, amplifier etc, then who's talking about an outdated colour on an outdated speaker?

I quess not anymore.

@Duels: After listen some evenings with the BL18 & BL19 combo my personal advice is to add an Beolab 19 for many reasons.

  • Beolab 19 is build for music.
  • You can hear it and it's not over present but it is well balanced and not like booomy as the Beolab 2 was (hard to describe in a foreign language)
  • Lift the Beolab 18 to another level of speaker - clear and crisp sound underlaying with a nice bass
  • Easy to place do the WISA capability

Suggestion: try to get a one for a demo from your dealer

Not to mention the deep background bass in Science Fiction when the setting is on a starship. It really does add so much to the scene.

@carlito. Thank you for your feedback. I was hoping you were going to say you preferred the BL18s on their own Big Smile. My dealer is very local so a home test will be no problem. The problem is that if I get a BL19 into my house I simply won't want to let it leave.
