I now have a BV8 as a computer monitor but it's a bit inconvinient that to turn it on and also the sound on my amplifier i need to click

LIST, PC, GO, LIST,LIST,AUX,GO

Is it possible to combine two functions together on any of the remotes.  Beo5?

Alternatively, is it possible to reassign one of the unused buttons at the top of my remote? Ie to set SAT to send out the PC code? Then If I set 2 things then  I could just click 2 buttons like, for instance

SAT,CD

Which audiosystem are you using?

If connected via HDMI you should be able to assign the computer input to another (unused) video source.

It's a Beocenter 9000 (an older system) so I suspect that'd a dead end.

I mentioned this to a friend and he said that he'd heard about converter boxes that spot a defined signal (eg an unused one on the Beo4) and produce a corresponding output signal.

you may use beo5 and beo6, they both have macros.

or use converters like irtrans and lintronic.

both solutions have advantages and disadvantages:

-beo5/6 - no further equipment, only beo5/6 will do

-ir/lt - you need the converters, ir eyes and transmitters, the signal is "outside" b+o, but you may use any ir-remotecontrol you want (beos and others).

The BeoCenter 9000 has datalink built in.

Just get a 'MCL to ML Converter' and use a 7-pin datalink cable to connect the 9000 and a MasterLink cable to connect the BV8 ---- if the BV8 has the MasterLink module built-in.

This allows for routing the ir-signal from one system to another - depending on the option settings.

Hi,

better get a Beolink Converter 1611 and connect it with a A-AUX cable to the Beocenter 9000 and with a Masterlink Cable to the BeoVision 8-xx.

Now connect your PC Soundcard with the RCA phono connection for AV3. In the Connection Menu select AV3 and assign it to DVD, select VGA or HDMI input.

Finally you should set the options as follows: A-OPT 2,  V-OPT 0.

Then you can select DVD (or CDV on older Beo4 or Beolink 1000). This will start your BV8-xx opens the Computer input and the sound will be routed to the Beocenter 9000.

Using the BV 8-xx as a monitor without Computer sound is also possible:  Start the BV with DVD and then select for example radio with AV and Radio.

But you need a Masterlink Module in your BeoVision 8-xx as Millemissen  stated before.

Most of the BV 8-32 and BV 8-26 need the masterlink or the DVB-T / Masterlink module whereas most of the Beovision 8-40 have the Masterlink moule already installed

Sorry - the 1611 was what I meant above.

I was in a hurry, as I made the posting - did not take the time for correcting.
