Hi All

First of all, sorry for missing pictures.. I was so occupied with the solution that I completelly forgot :(

I have been fixing quite a few 2300/Ouvertures latelly, and the latest 2300 had display problems. This is something I had never seen before.

The top display with the track numbers for the CD, was totally dead, and the bottom one, looked like some of the pixels didn't get enough "power".

When tapping on the bottom display, sometimes it would light up normally, but still with a dead upper display.

I decided to see if this was something that could be fixed, and it could :)

1: First dissasemble the unit and detach the frontpanel (8 screws)

2: Disconnect all wires/connectors to the display/clamper panel.

3: Desolder the 4 black wires for the dimming light

4: Disconnect the wireconnector for the buttons.

5: Unscrew the 4 top and bottom screws of the PCB

Now you have the display unit PCB detached, and can get started. What I found was that at the right buttom of the 2 displays, there are 7 solderpoints that powers the backlight to the displays. These solderpoints had cracked and caused the intermedient problems.

After a re-soldering of these 2 * 7 solderpoints, all displays was working again without problems :)

Then just re-assemble, and enjoy working displays again

Ok, so this is a standard problem, just never seen it before.

Thanks for supplying the image, I searched the net and could not find anything about it..

Is the colour of the display determined by the backlight and therefore interchangeble? Is it an LED-backlight?
