First, my main problem. I just picked up a first generation Beosound 9000. The system works, but it will not respond to my Beo4 or Link 1000. I think I have tried setting the option correctly, but it is almost like the remote is turned off. I know for a fact that it was previously used in a multi-room system using a masterlink setup.
Any help.
Additional information. When I got the system the glass door was down so far it was on the clamper. I rigged a bumper to keep it from closing all the way. Any way for me to readjust it?
One more - the cd gets hit by the sled or clamper. I have "centered" the CD drive mechanism properly, and improperly and it makes no dif. Is the clamper hitting or the sled? How do I know and can I adjust?
Thanks all.
What is connected to the BS9000? Speakers, TV etc? One room or multi room set-up? If you have no Powerlink socket inserted, it won't respond to a remote and you'll need one of these:

Are you sure both remotes are workiçng - digital camera test?
What option are you trying to set it to? 'A.OPT 0' or 'A.OPT 1' - look at page 33 of the ref manual for the BS9000 which is available to you as a Gold member for full instructions on Option setting.
Sled adjustments have been recently covered on a recent thread - try a search of the Forum and you'll find it hopefully. Some are only cured with a new laser unit but try other methods first.
Door adjustment is covered in this thread:

Dave.
Thanks for the info on the door. I will check it out.
Not sure what the digital camera test is but all 5 of the remotes I have tried work on my other 9000 and my 3000.
The BS9000 is in a one room setup. I have connected BL6000 speakers and an ML/MCL converter to a small pair of speakers.
The final setup will be to ML/MCL Converters and a pair of KEF 104 speakers, all in the same room.
I believe I would like option 1 which I thought was normal factory setting, unless I am reading wrong. No video at all in the room. At least in my mind, I have tried the procedures on page 33 at least 10 times. Unless mine is different. or the previous user turned off the ir receiver somehow.
Much thanks. I will try the A.Option adjustment again. But any additional thoughts for a MK1 would be appreciated,
Found the thread on adjusting the lid - All Good There!
Still have not been able to find a thread on adjusting the sled other than with the two (screws) on back wit the arrows.
As far as the remote working, I hooked up an MCL/ML via a Masterlink cable and put an IR sensor on it then connected my speakers (KEF 104/2) to the amp. All works with the remote. I am still not sure why the remote on the 9000 is not working, but if anyone has a thought, please shout it out. I even tried the correct procedure with a working remote knowing that the IR receiver connected to the MCL/ML was getting a signal to the 9000.
Anyway, thanks for the help. Any other thoughts from anyone would be appreciated.
It sounds like a door issue. Have you tried to manually start it using the controls on the 9000 ?
Thanks for your response.
All manual controls work fine.
Not sure what a door issue would be, could you elaborate? The door is in the correct position way above the clamper.
If the cd's get hit by the sledge, then you have probably a bent rockerarm. Replace or the less nicer option: re-bent it back. Located on the bottom of the sledge. First check the old grease.
Ir is probably caused by a faulty ir-receiver. Re-adjusting the glassdoor can be done on top at both corners. slide away the aluminium plate and opne the control lid. You'll find 2 small hole (approximately 1-1,5mm diameter). with an Allenkey you can re-adjust..
About the ir.
Here's a topic with the same issue: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/13714.aspx?PageIndex=1
WOW! This thread seems to have some strong similarities. Looks like that will keep me busy for a while. Thanks for pointing me to it.
Glass door is adjusted.
Getting sound using a Masterlink, MCL/ML and an ir eye. There is not another way to hook up an eye to the 9000 is there?
Sled looks like it will be a fix if I have to do the IR eye.
Thanks again.

I think his remote is working fine because he can control the ML/MCL converter and gets music via Masterlink.
The BeoSound 9000 needs to be set to A-Opt 1 according to the manual and it acknowlegdes it by blinking the red standby LED once.
If it's not acknowledging the sequence may still be wrong _or_ the IR receiver needs to be done as Beobuddy stated before.
Concerning the sledge touching the CD back: See this thread.

OK all. I know it took me some time, but here is the answer.
For the Remote not controlling the Beosound 9000:New IR Circuit Board installed - all good.
Full story:I ordered a new IR circuit board from Kirk at the B&O shop in Kansas City, Kansas. Great guy and great shop. It cost $90 and, if you follow only the instructions needed to get to the board, is not a really difficult install. Kirk told me I did not have to remove the faceplate (the aluminum that the CD'd sit in) just move it a few inches to the right then uninstall and install the IR circuit board.
I ended up taking it all off because I was following written instructions instead of thinking. Took much longer to reassemble; ended up with an extra part (I will ask you all) but I improvised and got it all going.
Sledge hitting CD or at least sounded like it:The easy solution would have been to adjust the clamper with the two screws near the display. I had to "revitalize" the flat springs then make the adjustment. This was after trying many other things. The two little allen head screws lift the outer edge of the clamper.
So, now the problem:Everything works. But I took off the arm that attaches to the clamper (from the sledge under the display) and a little spring popped out. It looks like the spring from a writing pen that your click. I was hoping that was it, but no. I found nothing in the area that would support that type of spring. The service manual for the Mk 1 and Mk 3 do not show a spring in the area. Its purpose is to keep the center of the clamper up when moving from CD to CD. That was where I had to improvise. I put some foam under the plastic cover that covers the arm. It had just enough force to push down the arm and raise center of the clamper. Everything plays now.
Now the thanks:Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you. I appreciate the tips and thoughts. Even if an answer does not solve my problem, it does help me keep thinking. The IR sensor was one of my Christmas presents and I finished the project today. A very happy moment for me.
Thanks all!
