Getting set up - AV 7000, CDX, and Beogram 3000, and Beolab 8000

This is amateur hour right here.

I have a beogram CDX that i've had for 10 years and finally made the decision to build out a new stereo system - exciting times!!

However... i will admit i'm feeling out of my depth trying to get all of my 1980's and 1990's equipment hooked up.

What i have:

- Bang and olufsen AV 7000 (To act as the receiver)

- Beogram 3000 (Turntable)

- Beogram CDX (CD player)

- Beolab 8000 (Speakers)

- Beolink 1000 (remote control)

 

So i think you're all going to say the AV 7000 is my problem, and you're probably right - i'm realizing as great as it looks it is a pain in the *** and i should cut it loose. But let's assume i try and give this a shot.

Problems:

1.The AV7000 doesn't appear to have enough sockets for my separates as both the CDX and the beogram 3000 are phono connectors.

2. i can't find any good reading material to advise on how i should/can connect the turntable up to the AV7000.

3. Can i put a DIN plug on the Beogram 3000 phono plugs and plug it in to one of the other inputs on the AV7000?

4. Will i ever be able to use the beolink 1000 to control the beogram 3000 either a)through the AV7000 or b) through another B&O receiver?

Any general tips for getting my system set up in an optimal way would be epically appreciated as it's stressing me out (i know... there are bigger problems in the world :)).

 

The speakers are the easiest bit - just plug them into the Powerlink outlets.  The Powerlink cables carry both L and R channels and you just set the switch on the speakers accordingly to either 'L' or 'R'.

The BG3000 should just go into the 'A-AUX' input which is a 7 pin DIN plug.  The BG3000 is Datalink compatible as is the AV7000.  However, the BG3000 does not have an RIAA pre-amp built in and I do not know if the AV7000 has one.  So, you may need a pre-amp.

The CDX can go into the 'AUX L/R' RCA inputs - depending on your CDX, you may just need an adapter from DIN to RCA (I have one and it works fine).

Yeah, I should be set on the speaker front, but i must admit id over looked the whole pre-amp thing on the bg3000. also my bg3000 has phono vs. a din so I guess I need to buy a phono to din connector, plus potentially a pre-amp. 

i really should have planned my purchases more carefully as its a pain that everything just doesn't work together.

whats also made it more challenging is I'm moving into a new house in 2 weeks so haven't actually been able to comfortably set it all up to run a proper test.

if I need to buy a pre-amp any recommendations?

The pre amp Sal suggested would be good as if you read up on it, you can ask Steve to prepare the wiring loom to accept Datalink signals for remote operation of your BG3000. I'd just copied the same link when I saw Sal had included it. Just make sure that Steve knows exactly what you want to connect so he can prepare everything to suit.
