Hi

I recently bought a "Not Working" Beogram 4002 from Ebay and I wanted to ask a couple of things if I may ?

Firstly, it needs a new belt and a tone arm drive belt, where is the best place to buy these from ?, as I believe there is a place where I can get the best quality ones.

Secondly, having had a look inside, and given a good check over, I notice that the Start button will not stay depressed/ started ( Although the light comes on when I press it ), the drive motor doesn't appear to work, and lastly, when I put the covers back on the turntable doesn't appear central in the hole.

Aesthetically, it's in really nice condition, and I was just wondering if some of the "stuff not working" problems might be caused by not having the belts to make the necessary connections needed to get these things working if you get my drift ?.

I'm afraid I'm not too good with turntables and especially tangential ones.

All input gratefully received, thanks for looking.

Hi,
Welcome to Beogram 4002 turntables. This Beogram 400x repair thread will give you a good overview of various aspects to the repair, adjustments and maintenance of these great turntables. There is some information on belts in there too.

The Beogram will not start if the servo motor belt is bad and the carriage cannot get out of parked position.

Thanks for the replies Guys, that 4002 thread looks like it could be really helpful.

And Martin, I suspected that would be the case, the thing is, where's the best place to source quality belts from ?, I've seen some on eBay, but I was warned away from similar stuff when I was looking for a belt for my 1200.

Thank You again for taking the time to reply.

I have a glass jar in my repairshop with loads of belts off Ebay and elsewhere, that were "guaranteed to fit".
A new batch of belts is in production and I am currently waiting delivery of the first prototypes, but it's still too
early to say when I will have something  ready.

Hi Martin

Thanks for the reply; That's exactly why I didn't want to buy from Ebay.

You don't happen to know the length of the belt at all ?, as I have seen quite a few places that will sell you a belt that is at least the correct length.

Failing that, if possible could you please contact me if you have something suitable ?, as I really would like to get this working.

Many thanks again for taking the time and trouble to help.

Hi again

Just coming back to this, as I managed to source both belts I needed, and now have the Turntable working, well sort of, as it seems to do everything it's supposed to do, Except lower the arm onto the record ?.

I am thinking of looking at the "Tracking force adjustment", but before I do, does anyone have any ideas as to what else it may be, as I don't want to go messing around if it's something completely different.

As always, all comments/ suggestions will be gratefully received, and much appreciated
