I have a nice pair of S55s that need refoaming. Does anyone have experience removing the driver, as far as I can see it is locked in. The hard outer ring covering the edge of the foam ring appears fixed on, the chassis the driver is mounted on also fixed in. Does anyone have experience with these? It appears they are do-able as I have seen refoamed S55s for sale.

Thanks

You have to remove the whole moulded plastic faceplate. The screws are at the bottom of the holes where the grilles' pegs go!

The woofer is bolted from the back of this plate, with four clamps !

Beovox S55 exists in two versions; Among the differences is that one has a separate plastic ring around the woofer (that usually comes
out together with the woofer when you remove the four screws and brackets). The other version has the ring integrated into the front bezel.
In both cases the woofer sits in a rubber gasket and typically binds immensely. Grab the woofers metal basket using two or three
fingers from both hands fairly close together and introduce a long and persistent pressure against the plastic using your thumbs.
