@steve

You need only one ML/NL Converter (BeoLink Converter).

But your ML-products will have to be connected (via MasterLink cables), since it is the 'ML-infrastructure', that is connected to the converter.

There are several settings to be made in the converter in regards to which products are connected and how the should react, how to activate these sources on the complete network.

I don't know how the BV5 reacts with the  BeoMusic app.

But it has always been possible to use the BV5 for sound without the screen turning on - using the AV-button (before the actual source button).

steve1977:

Thanks for your reply and help. I used the wording from the B&O web-site (BeoLink Converter). Is this the same as te ML/ML converter or will there be anything else to come?

That is the same

steve1977:

Does it have to connect via cable to my home network or could be wireless?

Cable only

steve1977:

Would I need one converter for each legacy device?

No. Only one to serve as a bridge between NL and ML

steve1977:

Does the new multi-room setup allow to play audio to a BV5 via the BeoMusic App (with NL/ML converter) without turning on the screen (audio-only)?

I think you need to give the BV5 the usual commands with the remote to play a source.

Do not know about the screen. I think that is up to how BV5 works and I´m not familiar with it.

Yesterday I took away my BC2 from my 15 products ML system and placed an Moment and a NL/ML converter (named BCL below) there instead.

I also had luck since the new Beomusic App apeard just when I had programmed the new products Smile.

The BCL i set to role A-Master.

The only products that is showed in the App is the Moment and the BCL which now controll the BV10-46 that is the V-Master in the ML. I get two-way info in the App about whats going on on the BV10-46 (V-master) and also when I change sources with the BO4. I am also able to change sources/volume and step right and left on the sources played on the BV10-46 from the Beomusic app. I belive that this controll of the BV10-46 proof that the BLC could do the same work as a BLGW. Now BO "only" need to do the programation work so that all ML products could be displayed and controlled by the Beomusic app or is this alreaddy possible to do? Basicly they need to transfer all functions from the Beolink app to the Beomusic app with or without an MLGW/BLGW when this is done and everything is controlled by one app then they will be miles ahead all other competitors.

One other thing I have noticed in the Beomusic app is that it do not work to save favorite radio station in the Tuneln part, that would be good if that could be corrected.

Now my hope goes to BO and that they put together the Beomusic app with the Beolink app then I am in again!SmileSmile

thanks for your 'review'.

don't you want to integrate your BC2?

It should be possible!

Ofcourse that would be good. I will try to do that this evening. I belive that I only have to use other IR mapped BO4 sources from the Moment than I have from on the BC2 so that they dont collide.

Running out of 'commands'/buttons is a problem.

I guess, that is (some of) what using the BeoRemote One can solve.

I don't know !

But that's why I rely on people like you to advise me Smile

However your question implies that BLCs do not have unique names (based on serial numbers ?!?!?) on the network Sad

B&o uses the types and serialnumbers as a unique address in NL.

One can give a BLC a name in the NL network and a alias for in the BeoMusic app. These names are the names visible for the user

Excellent

So in theory one could attempt to control a split ML network. Say a V-Master on one lobe, and an A-Master on another lobe.

Well - never thought about it that way.

I wonder if the benefits of two BLC would justify the costs.

Interesting theme, anyway.

Hello all

OK landscape view shows my moment. v1 and BLC

Of which pressing them does nothing at all.

My v1 in the beomusic app has nothing to control.

New app but does not seem to do anything yet.

Apparently we need to wait for some product updates.

If you've got a source playing on the moment; you should have the ability to "join" with the plus sign of the landscape view on the new BeoMusic App;

In the v1 have selected the Moment as the "link" product in Source Setup menu?

Seems to me one could connect every BLC to every ML product and name it that product to have more control over it. . .

I.E. beolab 3500 connected to converter then automatically shows up on the BeoMusic App. . .at least it seems that should work;

then you connect your BV7 to it's own BLC converter that also gets a spot on the BeoMusic App and then the "Join" command works on the ML

products and I think will actually toggle between the various sources available on the BeoNet Network... at least I think this is correct.

Oh ok I have not tested it with a source playing yet only been trying to play from the app.

Just looked at the app while I have my V1 on and it gives me the ability to share and control.

Is anyone using the beomusic app with a combination new and old and converter?

Just wondering if the BLC will recognize and identify more than one ML product.

I realize this is in contradiction to my earlier post but an told that the BLC will do so.

Thanks. MJM

That would be great to know. Would really love to have the chance to play (same or separate) music to different room connected through separate legacy devices through ML. If anyone has this setup and can share, this would be brilliant!

So far will the BLC only connect to one ML product then you have to change app to Beolink app to controll the other ML products. Right now its a mess with swapping between the Beomusic app and Beolink app. Hopefully will BO soon integrate the Beolink app functions in the Beomusic app because I cant see why they need two different apps.

ML stays ML.so on this side only one Master. So in one chain with ML product only one ML product which is visible by the BLC.

But a second BLC can see another ML master.

Restrictions I observered until now are the number of audio sources available in the BLC (one can't have twice CD programmed etc). Other restriction you cannot reach every ML product everywhere.

Best is to switch to NL and add the ML audio directjy to a BLC (in V Mode)

All ML sources could be visibel in the Beomusic app if they integrate the functions of the BLGW

I understand that if you want separate music but for same music in different ML rooms I belive that its only a question of programing then with or without BLGW.

I don't disagree. But I am happy with the new BeoMusic App.

You can add several BLC and control each of your ML products through the BeoMusic App.

I am choosing simply to program a 'join' button on the BLGW.

The Moment and BLC works really good, my ML system seems to be 15 years younger! I have resigned the BEO4/Beolink app CD button to Deezer and the Radio button to Tuneln and simply select what to play on the Beomusic app then I can "join" with either CD or Radio button via the ML product and change track and sound level with the Beo4/Beolink app (hopefully I dont need to change app in the future for this). The sound quality seems also much better than Beoport but maybe that is an illusion. Hoppfully BO will upgrade the Beomusic app with more useful things. One fault is that I am not able to save favorite Tuneln podcasts to be favorites in the Beomusic app then I also wish that there should be a "main" favorite chapter where favorites from Deezer,Tuneln and IOS-music are collected all together so that I dont need to jump between the different sources to choose a favorite. Then on the wish list is also a good looking small aluminium charger stand for the Moment so that I can hide the big soundheart.... But so far its a really good experience.

Some feedback of the last days testing of BLC and Moment together with 12 Masterlink products.

-Standby

2.The Moment do not go into stanby mode when all ML-products that are playing Moment sources are set into standby I need to push "all stanby" but then I also turn off Video sources. My old BLC whent into stanby when no audiosources was needed so I belive that there is some programation work to do here.

2. The Moment whent into standby mode after 30minutes even when ML products are playing audio from the moment, I solved this by changing power settings on the moment to always on but even here I belive that BO could solve that thing.

Tuneln

1. Not possible to save favorites in the Beomusic app.

2. I would like to have a function so that I can assign favorite radio station to a number so that I only can press radio and number 1 for example from my BO4 like in the old days.

Deezer

Same here, I would like to assign a number to each playlist so that I can push CD and the playlist number I would like to listen to.

Timer

I really miss the old timer event that could be programmed on my BC2

The clock function on the BL3500 works but no timer.

Beolink App

Hopefully they will integrate the Beomusic app functions into the Beolink App now I need to jump between the apps.

But over all it works like a charmSmile and the sound quality is much better than the sound from the Beoport.

Thanks very much for your feedback. I start to become more and more interested in the new multi-room line-up, and am considering to replace my Sonos with Moment + multiple Essences.

Does this new multi-room setup, including the Beomusic app, also have an alarm clock functionality? For me, this is a key use case! Wake up at 6:30 with music in the bedroom. Same music starting to play in the dining room and the kitchen as 7:00, etc. And all of that only during the week, and not in the week-end.

I know that this may sound as a lower priority requirement, but for my wife and family this would be a showstopper!

Interested in your feedback!
