Hello,
I am at the moment repairing a beogram 1203 it is in beautiful optical condition and will be moved to the living room once it is 100%.
I have already replaced the drive belt but the lift mechanism doesn't work. the Arm positions to the preset record size but doesn't lower itself.Upon opening the beogram I found the cam-lifting wheel to be broken and I am looking to find a replacement. Is there anybody who has such a part and is willing to sell it to me ?
Hi
Yes I have a spare, I'd be happy to let you have it.
Please contact me offline.

Menahem
Hi All,
Thanks a lot for the offer Menahem but I have just got one via Dillen.
One more thing I could use help in from anybody is suggestions how to clean of the old grease and lubricate the bearings and motor. For instance do I flip over the beogram or do you get in from the top ?
Any sugestions are more than welcome.
Pim
You need to flip it over to get access to everything, but you MUST first setup supports for the aluminium panels to rest on, otherwise you will damage the tonearm!
I finaly found the time to clean the bearings and put in the cam-lifting wheel. However, the arm liftsand lowers but the mechanism doesn't seem to know what to do.Can anybody inform me what the proper position (how do you put it in ?) of the cam wheel should be ?
Many thx in advance
when the cam gear is in turn the platter until the cam wheel stops, check if the arm are up or down, if the arm is up, thats the 0 start pos., if the arm is down, turn the cam gear until it engages to the platter gear, turn the platter until cam gear stops,
Connect the deck and try.
And a pic from the mechanism, from below, would help me to see if something is missing.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Hi Soren,
I have followed your instructions and after 2 hrs of carefull tinkering I have got the lift to work fine, thanks for the help. Only thing now is the automatic arm mechanism leading its own life, so I will add a few pictures as you've adviced. Please have a look perhaps you see something I have missed.
kind regards Pim
The last picture shows the cam gear in the 0 position.
I have to go working, but what is the the problem with the arm automatic, does it move to the record, and does it set down correctly, does it by end of record go back to rest, ???
Take of the flywheel (small pin through the main shaft gear and shaft, take a look at the the mechanism shown in the pic, dont take it apart as in the photo.
Check if the shift lever for 33/45 is working, and the other lever is moving freely, Clean and lubricate.
The arm has an "overload" clutch, this clutch does that you can move the arm in and out feeling kind of hard, check that, if moving very light the clutch is bad or not working, If OK move the cam wheel to arm down pos. move the arm toward record and it should move very light, not as hard as when moving the arm in rest pos. If it moves hard you will have to take the arm shaft out and clean and lub.
Check that the thin steel rod that swings the tonearm, runs correctly in its groove in the sequence wheel. It sounds as if it runs outside of the wheel rather than in the groove. It's the one that goes through to the upper side of the deck just at the sequence wheel where it ends in anylon wheel teflon brake).
Martin
Hello soren and Martin,
Thank you both for your reply. Soren, shift lever and clutch are working fine, I have tested yesterday. It feels more like Martins suggestion I'll have to check this later this week.Martin, just to make sure, I have circkled the nylon wheel in the picture below, is this the rod you mentioned ?
Yes, that's the one.I don't remember exactly how it is supposed to operate in its groove but maybe you can tell by looking at it.
i have a beogram 1203 and the tone arm moves further than the lead groove, i tried turning the screws underneath for 30, 25, 17 but it swings too far in.
i note that it also does not return at the end of a record in time and needs to be moved forward slightly to engage the return of the arm.
I'm sure that the mechanics are slightly out, anyone any clues what to tackle, I looked at the service manual but it was as clear as mud.
Any tips welcome.
