Hi Beoworlders,
I'm planing to build up a NAS server at home. Which brand NAS server you are using and why you have choosen this brand?
By the way, I have another difficulty. I'm using HSPA router and there is almost no dual band HSPA router on the market. Can I use repeater or acces point to get 5 Ghz Wlan? What is your suggestion?
Beovision Avant 55 / BV 11-40 / BV7-40 / Beovision Avant / Beosound 9000 / Beosound 5 Encore / Beosystem 4500 / Beosystem 6500 / Beocenter 9000 / Beolab 5000 / Beolab 18 / Beolab 19 / Beolab 11 / Beolab 17 / 3 sets of Beolab 4000 / Beovox Red Line 60.2
Thanks for your reply. Qnap and Synology first 2 brands I'm thinking on.
What kind of software you are using? Does any software comes with the server?
I have a WD MyBook Live. It's not a full on NAS with multiple drives but for me it was a great introduction in to the world of NAS.
It has an inbuilt twonky server.
I have all of my media (linked via itunes) stored on it and it's discretely in a cupboard.
I can access all of my media on the go via my iphone using W2Go apps by WD.
I can also access it anywhere on my network at home via my TV.
I believe the V1 will also be able to pick up it as well :-)
My WDMBLive is connected in to my Time Capsule, and my Time Capsule is connected via Power Over Ethernet from my main router in another room.
I must repeat my question because I'm still not clear about one thing.
I can not use 5Ghz WLAN because there is no HSPA Modem with WPS option on the market. So, for the encore I must use LAN connection for Internet Radio and USB connection for the server...
I can still register NAS on my 2,4 Ghz network and organise the folders in NAS driver. What I'm not sure is that because NAS driver always be connected via USB to Beosound 5 encore, will BS5 register all the new files on the NAS driver automatically or should I do something each time when I re-organise the files?
I wanna hide all the cables behind the wall and before I start to make a slot on the wall and buy something I want to be sure...
Thanks for your help
I found the answer and I'm writing here so if anybody will have the same networking problem like I had, he can find the solution here.
Basicaly, there is no dual-band HSPA modem router. So, you must look somewhere else. I've found a router (Asus RT-N66U N900) which supports UMTS/HSDPA sticks too. So, you just need to get matching sticks from this list http://event.asus.com/2009/networks/3gsupport/ and put your sim-card in and via USB port connect to RT-N66U router.
Now, you have HSPA dual band router for your 5 Ghz NAS server and internet connection for your Beosound 5...
That is the easiest, cheapest and elegant way to solve the problem.
