After replacing the three belts of my Beocenter 2200, I still have problems with the cassette player. Fast forward and rewind both work well. But the play works only for a few seconds and stops. Also, the tape counter doesn't work at all. I am trying to figure out what else to fix to make it playable. Any suggestions, please?

Are you sure you've got the counter belt on correctly?

Does Beocenter 2200 have a tape counter?

No, I don't think it has. Maybe a clarification is needed.

Dave.

The smallest belt I put from the takeup reel to the nearby pulley. I thought it was for the tape counter. With my very basic knowledge, it looks like the tape counter. My player is Beocenter 2200, type 2425. Your suggestions please.

Hi, the Beocenter 2200 has no counter. The belt between the supply reel and the magnet wheel is needed to indicate the tape electronic that the supply reel is turning. If no signal arrives at the tape control circuit the tape stops after approx. 2-3 seconds. You can operate the tape without the aluminum cover by removing the two screws. You will than have a beter view, if the supply reel, the belt and the magnet wheel is turning. If all of them are moving smoothly and the tape still stops after a few seconds, check the cable and connectors from the magnet wheel sensor to the tape control circuit. If everything is fine either the magnet wheel IC or the tape control circuit causes the problem. Have success, rgds. Greg

Hi. I'm new to this forum so not sure if I should start a new thread or just reply here.

I have a beocenter 2200 and the cassette is behaving very strangely. It will play, RR or FF fine- but only for about 2 secs, then it cuts out! Can anyone suggest what may be the problem? Can repeat this over and over again- always stops after about 2 seconds.Thank you
