Hi everyone, I am new this forum and B&O gears. Recently, I would like to buy a set of B&O gear. I am thinking either a 7-55 or 4-50 TV. I am planning to connect the TV with either beolab 9 or beolab 8002.  For this set up, do I still need a center speaker like 7-2? Will it be a very noticeable difference in terms of sound affect with or without the 7-2?  This set up is for movie, TV and everything.

If I use the beolab 8002, will I still need a sub-woofer? I have heart the 8002 can deliver quite strong base. However, if a sub-woofer is still needed, can I use the 7-2's bass as sub? As 7-2 has 250w bass power.

Some of my friends told me I can use mono mode, send all the voices to my left and right speaker, has anyone used this method? Is it good?

Finally, how is the sound affect of using Dolby pro logic ii for 5.1 affect by using just 2 speakers for movies? Will either beolab 9 or beolab 8002 be good enough when using Dolby pro logic ii? Can Dolby pro logic ii can still work if I add a 7-2 in the set up?

Btw, how is the 7-55's 2d picture quality when comparing with 4-50?

Thanks

Welcome to Beoworld. A center speaker is the way to go for a tv set up. Subwoofers speakers and televisions are very much a personal choice. I could tell you what I would choose from your list but that would be only for my house. You need to consider the room you are putting this equipment in and work back from there.

Hi Valve1, thanks for your reply. I need speakers for both TV and movies. I guess the 7-2 is good enough for TV, but may not be enough for movie. My concert is will beolab 9 or even beolab 8002 would be good enough for both TV, movies and music without using 7-2 and subwoofer?

Btw, my living room is about 450 square feet.

I use a subwoofer with bl8000 - but this not to everyone's taste. All the speaker's you mentioned are as good with movies or tv.

I think you should pick your tv first then work out from there. What country are you in ?

I am currently live in London, but will move to Hong Kong soon. I am interested in the bv4-50 1080p or the bv7-55 either mk1 or mk2. Do you have any experience in watcting these TVs? Any preference? I have seen both 7-55 mk1 and mk2. Both are  brilliant in producing  2d picture, but have not got chance to see the 4-50. As 4-50 is plasma panel, I guess the picture quality should be a bit better than 7-55.

In terms of speaker choices. do you mean center speaker is less important? I can use left and right speaker to do center speaker's job? The sound quality would not be affected too much?

correct - however if you like to watch lots of "talking heads" TV then you will find the subtle difference of a speaker tuned for the human voice is very nice.  I sometimes run my set-up in SPEAKER 1 mode so that the news reports and current affairs have the dialogues channeled to only the centre speaker.

Thanks for your kindly reply Ed. I am not a 'talk show' fan. If the left and right speaker can also do the center speaker's job perfectly, then I think I will go for either a pair of bl 8002 or bl 9. I will use the speakers for music mainly, sometime for movies. Personally I prefer the bl 9, if my budget is ok I will surely have the 9s.

I saw your other posts in this forum, you seems like ' expert ' in B&O gears. I need your advice on the TV, I am think have either bv 7-55 mk without 3d version or the bv 4-50 1080p version. As they are both out of production, so I could not compare them in B&O dealers. In your opinion, which one is more reliable and can produce better 2d picture quality?

Finally, as mentioned above, I will just have one pair of speakers. I am planing to use Dolby pro logic ii technology to simulate 5.1 channel affect by using just 2 speakers. How is the surround sound quality? Do you have any experience in using Dolby pro logic ii? As both TV have beosystem 3, I assume they both have Dolby pro logic ii technology.

I think it would be better to ask people like Moxxey ... I will stop him a PM and let him know about this thread

Again others would be better to comment on this - but thank you for the compliment about my knowledge
