Hello all

I have a question about the moment.

I have a v1 in my bedroom that can access the sound

The moment is in another room connected to its own speakers and a converter for my older ML devices

When I call up music on my V1 the sound comes through but it also puts music on in the moment room through its speakers until I go and turn them off and it shows distributing on the screen.

Any thoughts

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question, as I am currently reviewing if I should by a Moment or a Beosound Essence. I have a related question to the topic you are raising.

I also have a V1 and was wondering how to best connect my BL3 speakers. Directly to the V1 or connect them to the Moment/Essence?

If I connect them to the Moment/Essence, can the V1 still access the BL3 speakers connected to the Moment for a speaker group set up and use these speakers as additional sound channels or is het surround module only working for speakers connected directly to the V1? If that is the case, probably no use for the Moment/Essence unless I also buy a second pair of speakers?

Or is it advised to connect the speakers to the V1 and has the moment/essence a capability to play music over TV connected speakers (which is what you seem to suggest in your post)?

You can only create a surround setup and/or different speaker groups using the BL3's, when they are connected to your VI (unless you want to use one of the Almando solutions).

You can (easily) set up the BS Moment to use the speakers of (or connected to) the V1 - and you can have different speaker groups/sound settings for (each of) the Moment sources.

The Essence need its own speakers (or you can connect it - as line-out - to e.g. an (ML-)audiomaster or even to the V1 using the A/V connector.

You can not start the playback on the V1 directly from the Essence like you can from the BS Moment.

If the Essence is set up with its own speakers (or set up as line-out), you can join in on its sources from the V1.

If the Moment can link to a V1 and activate it, why does the BeoMusic app's link of the Essence to the V1 fail ?

Just to be sure - you mean, that we should be able to 'see' the sources of the Essence in the sourcemenu of the BV's (like it is with the BS Moment)?

And we should be able to turn these on using the 'wheely', the app or the remote, if the essence is (NL-)networked to BV?

---

I guess - as mostly anything today - it is a software-thing!

Maybe they don't want it to?

Maybe they did not see the need for the use of the BS Essence in this way (could canibalize the sales of the BS Moment?)?

Maybe they just did not have the time for writing the software needed (and other tasks had priority), or they are waiting with that functionallity untill later?

???

Anyway, that it is not possible, is the answer, that I got from Beocare a couple of days ago - the BV/BV's will always assume, that there are loudspeakers connected to the Essence.

On my request, this is passed on as a 'wished-for functionallity' to the team, that works with the Essence.

Thanks MM

I misunderstood your sentence

Millemissen:

You can not start the playback on the V1 directly from the Essence like you can from the BS Moment.

Which to me read the other way around ... and if one worked the other should.

But you are right, if it is pushed from the V1 to the other device then it is implementation dependent on the Moment versus the Essence

And it means, that if someone thinks, that a BS Essense with 'wheely' and app (connected to a BV through NL) could substitute a BS Moment (connected to a BV through NL), he is wrong.....unfortunately!

I am of course being technical and I would expect all products to conform to an NL interface protocol just like for 30 years we had ML products confirming with some incremental improvements e.g. N-Radio
