I've just received my second A2 (Black and Copper edition) and want to update the software on my original A2 so I can pair them for stereo use.  I've followed the instructions on the Beoplay website and downloaded the installer and then the Beoplay Software Update but nothing happens apart from it crashing!  No update possible.

My PC is up to date for the requirements so how do I update my A2 software now?  I've written to the Beoplay support desk but has anyone else had problems with this update?

I hate it when things so simple become so complicated or difficult.

Dave.

We haven't had any issues updating our A2's and BeoLit15's.

Have you followed the video tutorial exactly?

Do you get as far as the red flashing light?

I haven't been able to install the software update or program as it just crashes. I haven't even got to a point where I can connect the A2 to my PC yet. I didn't know there was a video tutorial - where is it? It didn't appear after a Google search and I didn't see it referred to on the

Beoplay website.

Hi Dave, video tutorial is part of the software updater.

For me it worked smoothly, however I did it on my Mac Mini - not on PC/Windows.

And there lies the problem. I'll try with my step-daughters Mac later.

Thanks, Dave.

Hi Dave, here's the A2 pairing video. Good luck with everything. I'm sure it'll work fine on your daughter's Mac. Maybe that's a hint to let you buy the new MacBook Retina in champagne gold to match the Black Copper A2 :)

Thanks PaulW. Actually we are discussing 'retiring' our PC as it's from 2007 - not too old but it's slow now, and replacing it with a Mac. Next time I'm in the UK I'll pick one up at the airport. More flexibility with a Mac rather than a tied down, hard wired PC.

I've just watched the video on YouTube.  If I click on the B&O link at the bottom for the Beoplay support - it's a dead link and cannot be found.  Story of my technology life!

Sounds awesome Dave. Well, 20 years of Macs for me and this new MacBook is the nicest one that I've ever used. The screen is incredible and the design - WOW. I use Final Cut Pro X on it for 4K editing and no problems what so ever. For me, it's perfect.

Yes, I've just tried that link and nothing. Come on B&O, I know you can't do software BUT not even a link that will open. Are they doing it as a joke??? What an insult!

I have the macbook air,

If you are use to a 2007 pc, I do not think you need any more.

After 2 years it still have 12 hours on a charge, best computer I have had.

Hi Dave, the best thing to do is go into an Apple showroom and you'll instantly see the one for you. The Air was voted by many as the best laptop of al time but it's very very dated looking now with silver bezels and old screen resolution. The MacBook Pro 13" is incredible but I'm convinced for most people, the 12" MacBook Retina is simply incredible. As I mentioned, it's the best MacBook i've one and used for so many reasons. I can't fault it. It's engineering is amazing. Plus it's available in colours like the iPhone and iPad.  For me, the silver aluminium was looking too dated so this is a welcome.

Sorry to be off topic!

Now if only B&O would bring out a Copper Black BeoLit 15!!!!!!!!!! or S3 in Copper Black :)

Thanks MM. That's what I've used but it just crashes via my PC so I'll try via a MacBook later. I will get this to work!. The black and copper A2 is nice looking. That will be the right channel and my all black one the left.

What a disaster!

Using the MacBook, the updater and programme updated/loaded fine and I watched the video (twice along with the family).  I did the software update on the A2 that arrived today - no problem at all.

Repeated the excercise with my original A2 which failed (error) and now my A2 is completely dead!  It won't turn on, the light doesn't come on when it's on the charger etc.  A warranty claim is on its way to Beoplay.

I'm not a happy bunny.

EDIT:  Just spoke with Beoplay customer support on the helpline.  It will not reboot and is dead.  It needs to be replaced with a new one.  They are collecting it on Friday.

Damn!!! I sincerely miss the days when products were beautifully made, were reliable and lasted many, many years. Can we PLEASE go back to making quality that lasts!  Seriously, it would be far better on the environment too... Really expected more from B&O maybe Tue did ruin the company?

Customer service have been great.  It's all boxed up including all paperwork and is ready for collection.  They expect me to have a repaired or replacement unit within three weeks.  I wonder if they'll do the software update before I get it back?

I once turned a brand new BMW E65 into a brick after updating its firmware.... and I then had to break the news to its owner...

you are in the lap of the gods at such times... good to hear B&O are sorting things out..

Good.  One of mine was perfect, the other has just been collected by UPS for repair/replacement.  It seems to be a mystery as to what happened to it.

The return system is really excellent from B&O.  Fill in an online form with all of the details, set a date for collection by UPS and just answer any questions the B&O tech has online via a personal page for the repair.  Follow it all online - it's a doddle.

Hurray !!!

Been to the shop (without my Beolit 15 that was at home) and they told me not to bother with the red light thing.

I runed the program, pluged the Beolit to the computer, pressed the 3 buttons approx 20 s without knowing if the red light was on, the Beolit turned on, got a message saying to turn off the Beolit wich I did and the software started downloading. Voilà.

Havent tested it yet though !

Don't ear any difference in sound quality after the update. There's maybe a little less bass but difficult to say (some songs on spotify now lack bass with my settings (bass reduction on) while that never happened before (always too much bass on normal setting)). But is it real or in my head ?

Strange behavior still here after update (nothing happens for a few seconds sometimes while setting the sound up or down).

Just updated. No problems updating at all. Played a few songs and can't notice any difference soundwise. Only have 1 so can't test the "stereo" option.

I hear no difference with my 'new' A2 but can't test the stereo effect until my broken one is returned.

I did the update and it went well. The red blinking light did not exactly behave like described in the instruction movie. It stopped before I could press continue in the windows install program. But after trying a couple of times the software recognised the A2 and continued the installation without further issues.

i do not notice any difference in sound. Basically I do not notice any difference at all, but I only have one A2 yet.

My replacement A2 arrived this morning and is charging as I write.  Great service from B&O.  They handled it really well and from me sending the A2 back, it's only taken 6 days for a new one to arrive here.  I'm very pleased.  Once it's up and running, I'll report on the stereo effect - assuming the software update goes OK!

The original one was all black - as is it's replacement and will be the right channel. The new one is the black and copper version which will be the left channel.

I bought my son a black one last year which is in constant use and my wife just received a green one to take to work yesterday! 4 x A2's is enough. I hope they don't have any more offers soon as it's getting expensive.

Now I'm just waiting for my pair of newly ordered black S3's to arrive. So much choice of things to play with.

You need to put the A2 in update mode, by simultaneously pressing ON/OFF and volume buttons.

When you have downloaded the App, and started it there should be a video explaining how to proceed.
