I'm surprised you like it Simeobeo as I don't see that much design to it. The A8 was iconic in its design - just took big. I don't think that at £800 for a made in China plastic speaker it'll be a BIG seller as some people seem to think. It's nothing in design but what is beautiful to one person is pig ugly to another I guess.

The speaker is being extensively reviewed and one or two have heard it and have rated it highly. (Use Google.)
Personally I think that it may provide a bridge between high tech speaker output (if it lives up to the spec) and furnishing. A lot of women (and men) are put off by hard boxy units but will go for the curvy fabric lines of the A6.

I think pricing is a bit on the high side compared to A8 especially considering that if you want a different color then grey you have to buy extra cover which adds another 129$ here in the US.
But you know what, this has multi room. I will connect it to my Airport express to get it into my wireless network, not as slick as I had hoped but good enough.

it has a wired ethernet, so you are supposed to connect it to a wireless router or, like I do with my playmaker to get it into my 5GHz network, use an airport express.
Not sure why they didnt use the chipset that they use in the A9. Seems stupid. Moment, A9 and A6 all use different chipsets with Moment being 2.4 GHZ wify, A9 5GHz bluetooth, A6 wired ethernet and bluetooth.

Incorrect. The A6 is both 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz. Think of it as a smaller A9 MKII with a different form.

The A6 is the seat back, the H2 headphones are the castors. Next will be the seat and armrests!

And while I have yet to comment on the design I was very surprised to see it yesterday, they have really been able to keep it secret in a very good way. Kudos B&O! Designwise I like to see it IRL before I judge it.

I suspect that you are not comparing like with like unless you are just talking about fabric covers.
Incidentally, the French speaker that you are forever promoting has a scratch prone abs plastic body, and some very suspect specificarion claims like '1000 times better sound than anything else'.

Of course it doesn't look like Bang&Olufsen products, its a different brand with a different audience. Expecting Beoplay to be cheap version of the Bang&Olufsen products is naive. That would be a terrible buisiness plan. Beoplay products shouldn't look like Bang&Olufsen products but sound and function like a scaled down version of them. Beoplay does this brilliantly at the moment. The multiroom gives the user a taste of the real Bang&Olufsen products, and the design and build quality should inspire the Beoplay customer to go look at Bang&Olufsen. I have said this before, but it is very important for Beoplay to offer a scaled down Bang&Olufsen TV, just like the V1. The design of the V1 might have divided people too much with it's design, but the functionality is superb, and does a very good job at showcasing B&Os forces and strengths. It's a sure way of convincing people to buy a true Bang&Olufsen TV, and with that comes the speakers etc.

I agree, it's a different brand - too many people need labels (not in the physical sense) for things to make sense for them.

really? It seems that someone from B&O hurt you really bad. I read a lot of your posts from the past, even from the beginning. They never sounded as angry as your recent posts. What happend? There was a time you liked and burned for this brand, you helped other members with really good advices. Nowadays every post is against everything from B&O and everyone. I really like your opinion about the iconic designs from B&O - but times are changing, even tastes and B&O needs bread & butter - products to earn money for R&D - to survive. You compare multi-billion-dollar-companies like LG with B&O -when it comes to TV's. Please have a look on the revenue report from LG and compare just the TV Development budget with the overall budget of B&O. Now you compare speakers from Vifa-speakers with B&O-speakers - knowing that the vifa-speakers don't support B&O-multiroom-features, ... . Of course, not every product from B&O is meant to be for us "aluminium-fans". There are a lot of new customers out there - they need to be attracted - I am sure this latest cushion-like speaker will do a good job - my wife likes the A6 more than the "satellite-dish" (her words - not mine). You don't have to buy the A6.
Btw: there is another brand called Libratone and the sell speakers with fabrics too and they are even cheaper than vifa. If I would follow your logic, then Vifa-products are "overpriced" too. If you dump everything from your household, which is manufactured in china, how would your living room look like? Be honest! As long the speaker-plastic isn't color-fading, dissolving and smelling like a chemical cocktail or burning tar, you should not be affraid about the quality. You complain about the prices from the latest B&O products and you forget, that nowadays nobody is willing to pay the real price for a product solely made in Denmark. Prices are subjective when it comes to a luxury brand, Louis Vuitton is selling high heels for more than 1.500,00 USD a pair to a lot of Chinese women here in Singapore. Do you think they care about the price-value?
So please be resonable, give it a chance and calm down, especially, if you never had the chance to see and hear the new A6 in the real world.

Thank you - Will watch it. I didn't wanted to defend the manufacturing practices nowadays - sadly it is reality now. If you talk with chinese here and tell them about the troubles their manufacturing causes in europe, they don't care. They are proud to be a part of it and their jobs - even if its bad for their health or future. You can choose, what you want to buy and what you want to support - but you will never know for sure, where it is manufactured - even if a sign "Made in XXX" is on the product.
It is a modern form of slavery - only with the 'slaves' located in a foreign country.
Very comfortable - we don't need to care :-(
That said - the chinese are able to produce high quality products too - the great question however, is whether we are willing to pay for it or not.

Really don't know what to think about this new product. I doubt I will ever buy a Tweed speaker but who knows ? Seems very easy to place in a room compared to the A9 I still can't imagine anywhere in my living room or kitchen.
Smaller than the A8 maybe with "bigger" sound.

It's a beautiful film in some ways because there are those with real light at the end of the tunnel visions and they are the ones who will succeed in turning this around.
Look at IITTALA of Finland, they are still producing in house and they say that they want their products to last a lifetime. To me, that is beautiful. Their drinking glasses are amazing and designed in the 1950s. Timeless quality and £7 each. Handmade. That's not expensive for a company that puts ethics and kind manufacturing first.
At the end of the day, it's the consumer who is in charge. If you don't like the company's way of doing things, don't buy it and tell your friends not to. That's the ethics that I follow. If everybody cared like this, companies would take notice because their sales would halt!
It's all business greed. I remember in 1999 paying £15 for a pair of SONY headphones. They were Made in Japan and lasted five+ years. Now a pair of B&O headphones cost £400 and are made in China and have problems. That's a real step back in my opinion!
Is it smaller than the A8? It looks bigger imo. When you say bigger sound, do you mean better? If so, I'm selling my A8 asap!

By the eay - the use of fabric is nothing new. The BL3000/5000 had blue or grey woolen covers.
i kinda like it - wish I had room for that (too).

Just be sure you don't put the A6 on the chair, and sit on it not noticing it is there. :-)

Still curious how the floor stand is going to look like - maybe some aluminium will be used there to also satisfy fans of "moe traditional" B&O design?
