I have a Beovision 11 and would like to play media via DLNA but don't know how to go about it.

The Beovision 11 is connected by wifi to the home network router (but does not have Wisa).

If I connect an external drive containing MP3 and MP4 files to the router by USB should the Beo11 find the media somehow?

Thanks

Hi,

connecting a drive to the router with files on it isn't  enough! There has to be a DLNA Server who offers the files in the network. You have to check whether your router can act also as a mediaserver. If not you need a network device acting as a media server. This could be a NAS or a small box containg a Raspberry Pi with the USB drive and a mediaserver software running on the Raspbery.

Personally i know that all newer Fritz Box routers from AVM can act as a mediaserver, other manufacturer might also offer this function..
