Dear All,

I have recently purchased a B&O TV and want to stream from the sorts of services above. At the same time I bought a Toshiba Blu-ray player and a YouView box but neither of these are Wi-Fi enabled at present.

Is there a service that I can stream from using the TV Wi-Fi without having to purchase another box?

Many thanks

What B&O TV do you have? In e.g Beovision 11 you are limited to what is provided through the "smart TV" apps. So that is not much. Would recommend to add e.g an Apple TV .

Hi Nomad and welcome to Beoworld,

It seems to me that your 'problem' is, that you have no wired connection from your router, where the tv is - and rely on wireless connections.

Use a device like this in 'client mode' and you will have the two ethernet ports, that you need:

And... wait until this evening for the new Apple TV Box. This MAY answer everything... you may never need that YouView box after this one :)

Tonight I assume only the updated hardware will be released. The rumored TV streaming subscription service from Apple is likely to be US based (at least to start with). Content rights discussions with Studios are very complex. Service is rumored to start 2016.

Time will tell.Smile

Hi Hiort yes, being honest, i'm excited by the way that you will be able to download apps for it. So hopefully, CNN app and others and maybe stuff that was missing from it like 4OD and BBC i player.

Lets hope so. I work for a company that provide streaming services and we have built and launched (earlier this year) an app for our streaming service on Apple TV. Apple are very picky on who to let into their eco system and are of course very stringent on quality issues (of course).

Hence, I do not think a whole lot of streaming apps will come into the AppleTV. Rather other apps like games, weather etc.

In the end I may end up with being happy with my current two ATV's 😎

MM, thanks.

We actually have a really good wireless connection with download speed around 65. However we only have the TV connected to the Wi-Fi.

I had assumed, perhaps wrongly, that streaming services would work via Wi-Fi, direct to the TV without the need for other hardware.

Any further assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers

No, it does not work that way. You can only stream with the apps on the Beovision, and they are limited (no netflix etc). Youtube works well however.

So, you need to connect additional hardware that have the apps you need for e.g Amazon etc.

The YouView box should be wired to your router. The box is then connected to the TV by hdmi or scart depending on your TV model/ age.

I don't know whether there is a Beo4 PUC for the YouView box or whether you need to use its own remote.
